What do you use for new padding? And where do you get it? I'm sure this may have been at least partially answered somewhere before. I have a couple of gloves that could use new padding.

Thanks fredderf. I had already found an old thread where Rous suggested those pads from Grainger, and there happens to be a Grainger store/warehouse near my house, so no shipping cost!

Here's my PRO1005BF, one model I looked for for years. Paid $25 for it. It needed relaced, and had that hole in the liner. and the binding is mostly gone.

After - Relaced, sewed in a patch covering the entire palm, and added a palm pad. For the palm pad, I used a piece of closed cell foam yoga mat between the original inner and outer palm. I don't know how long that would hold up under heavy use, but this glove won't see that much use. I think it'll be fine, though. I've had it loaned out to my daughter's on and off boyfriend/fiance. He complained about how much it hurt to catch a softball with it. I thought he was exaggerating until last week. I thought of using last week since it was raining, until I warmed up with it (after the patch in the palm, but before the rest of the work). The glove felt like it magnified the shock. The foam pad should help a lot. IF we get to play tomorrow, I'll give it a try. It's rained all but 1 or 2 days of the past 2 weeks, and is to continue through Wed.

Thank you! The new palm pad worked! I used it during our league game Sunday since it was wet and misting the entire day (weekend/week), and the glove worked and felt like it should. I'm happy with the results.

Here's my $1.50 Goodwill PRO-701BF. Glove was, or had been very dry, and there were 2 crotch tears that were worse than the pics show. This glove was originally traditional dark tan judging by the unexposed sides of the fingers, but has darkened over time and now has a burgundy tint. The laces were ok, but limp.

After- I sewed the crotch tears with strong button thread. Not one of my better sewing jobs, but it'll do the trick. Cleaned it with Lexol, and conditioned with Leather Lube (beeswax). I re-laced only the fingers and web, and moved the lace from one of those areas to the heel. The lace was some Franklin/Dr Glove lace I bought a couple of years ago. It's a good match color-wise, is thick, and right between 3/16 and 1/4" wide. 101_2920.JPG 101_2921.JPG 101_2925.JPG 101_2900.JPG

I had a 701 with the opposite problem - over oiled to the point of feeling slimy and overweight. Oil dry and Fast Orange put it on a diet but not enough to want to use it. Yours looks great!

Pro Issue B2. Was very dry, web was laced incorrectly, and the labels were blacked out.

Ok, I got the protocol to remove the Sharpie from Ross McNiel. He prefers that you contact him directly rather than have it revealed openly. I will respect his wishes. You can find him on FaceBook under his name, or on IG as @theswingboss. I am not sure if he is active on this forum.

Easily the worst padding in a glove I have ever seen.
    It's a weird Styrofoam

Also, this glove was SOOOO dry.
Most of the laces popped, they didn't even need to be cut.

I thought about it for a few months.
Had some work done on my foot so I finally had the time to try.

I read on here that tan goes with everything.

My glove was getty floppy so the stiffer tan lace helped it out.

Im going to trim up the laces after i can play catch with it to feel it out.

    Thanks

It took bits and pieces of 3 days to do it.
Im not sure if I would lace a trap for a friend.

I would not have attempted the relace without reading all the good information in here. Thanks to everyone that shared their expertise!
