    ~ I love this thread seeing how folks have been able to restore old leather!

    hey das028 - very nice job! I have exact same glove, but mine came from GoodWill. Was considering giving it a go at restoring, and seeing yours, I'm convince I really need to now.

    What is "Install thumb and pinky inserts from 1/8 in HDPE"??

    Thanks!

    HDPE = high density polyethylene
    The type of plastic I used. All i did was trace the original thumb insert. Then cut 2 inserts using a jigsaw. Drilled holes that they needed, and laced them in. Pm me if you have any specific questions. Good luck!

    From those that hate them say that the top of the trap doesn't secure snowcones, which is why I always lace the top of the trap web very tight and then go looser the further down the trap I go. I go for this kind of shape...

    I lace mine out a bit in the base of the trap web (deepens as it breaks in) and I taper the top in (makes the top very controllable—IMO).

    And cuz Grif did it

    When I tried to stiffen my trap, I found the key is not tightening the laces that zigzag to form the trap, it's tightening the spiral laces that hold the zigzag laces to the thumb, index finger, and the 6th finger of the web. (Forgive me for using such technical terminology.)

    I meant the laces marked with blue here.

    A little explanation is in order. The top of the "6th finger" of the web of my PROS27 (not pictured) seemed a little weak and soft, wanting to bend in. I thought tightening the laces of the web would stiffen it, but I can't seem to follow them to the bottom of the web where they tie off to know which laces to pull tighter. Then I noticed the laces marked in blue that wrap around the web laces as they criss-cross the gap were a little loose, so I pulled them tight. Can't explain why, but it accomplished my goal of stiffening and straightening the top of the web.

    The blue on the PRO-2HFBL has aged nicely. Most of the blue gloves I've seen have either turned a grayish blue or real

    Might be off topic but is there a thread or video that show what tools etc are recommended for Lacing, like adding a wrist strap etc

    I miss Dirty, he made the best videos and I still go back and watch them from time to time. Not having him here is a big loss for the glove community.
