Here we are in 2017 - While the membership has been somewhat quiet last year, I hope we have both old and new members who stop by this thread to share their softball experiences with the rest of us...

I won't know until closer to the date - My young team plays on Sundays - So I'll have to see what the schedule is once they get rolling...

If I can, I probably will stop by for the afternoon --- if it's not -30°... :)

If we can find a field dry enough, will be out hitting this weekend. But looking
at the fields, not too likely.:mad:

Oh well, it's only February. We usually have snow and it's freezing cold.
Enjoy the nice weather, because you never know when winter will kick us
in the teeth again.

Any teams over in York looking for a 1B or C ? Any help is appreciated .... I have team here in Hanover and not sure how well it will work this season due to really poor communication from these young guys ....

Got to hit this past Sunday. Hit about 100 balls. Not live pitch, my buddy has a Pop Toss. It took
a round to get used to the timing of it, but the other rounds were good. Hit fairly well for the first
time out.

Might hit tomorrow depending if we get rain up north or not. This time it will be live pitch, and
my protective screen will be used.

Spring 2017 begins Monday, March 20 (in 25 days)

Sorry Bill - I'm playing in the Mechanicsburg area now - Can't help you out in York...
You might want to contact the York City Rec department for the names of managers - Or find out when the league/team meeting is and drop by to talk to some team managers...

I think there might be a Sunday league in the Shrewsbury area... Not sure...

If the Bethlehem league happens I'll be playing for PK Builders again. Also will be playing senior league with same team as last year,
The big news is our senior league is allowing 60 and over to swing senior bats...guess what = I'm 60 years old this year.:D

Gonna get out Monday morning to do live pitch BP. Can't believe this weather, but I'll take every warm day we get. Maybe this
year I'll get a hit.:eek:

Sounds like you're lined up for the Senior summer season - I hope the other league works out, too...

I got out today for another 120 swings off the tee - then some self-toss...

Softball seems like one big soap opera - I can't believe all the big egos (for a rec sport) --- plus the lack of keeping commitments and simply being a considerate person...

For one league, I'll be playing on a new team this year because the team from last year fell apart... Our first team meeting/practice is two weeks away...

Hopefully, my Senior team will pull it together so I don't have to go looking for another team to play on in that league as well.... Sigh...!

I feel for you Ken. I think league softball is nearing an end around my area. There are a few that do alright. One
is the LEHIGH VALLEY BUSINESSMANS CORPORATE LEAGUE. Other then that one and a few Unlimited arc leagues,
the rest are shrinking then folding.

The senior league I play in had 8 teams last year to start, one dropped before the end. This year we might have 9.
Same with the Bethlehem league last year it was going to fold, but the Quakertown League folded first and we
picked up 3 or 4 teams from them. This year is still not a lock, but probably will go.

On the part of nobody keeping a commitment, well that is just sad. I hate not being able to count on someone's word.
And ego's are just something that has always been part of the game, as you get older you just notice it more.:cool:

Team was expecting to practice next Sunday - Now forecast for rain...

Hopefully, I'll get a chance some day this week to take a few more swings - but I'm not holding my breath - All this snow melting is going to make every field like a marsh... :(

Just picked up a Miken Ultra 2 OG for senior league. Turns out anybody 60 and older can swing
senior bats this year.:D

Taking every advantage offered ---- Yeeee Haaaa!!!

The rain didn't show - but the forecast had already scared the coach into canceling practice --

So I hit off my tee -- But that's NOT the same -- I'm looking to get some actual on-field practice - Please...

We had senior ball practice Monday & Wednesday - Looks pretty decent team this year - a few new guys that should help...

Knocked the rust off - working on getting my timing right - hitting left, center, right - so that's working...

Still working on getting my glove in the dirt for the ground balls...

Was great to get out for some practice --- Next week, Sunday, Monday & Wednesday - Yee Ha !!!

We had practice ( BP ) last Wednesday for senior league. Felt good to swing the Ultra2, and that
was the new 2 piece, a little to cool to swing the OG.. Will swing the OG Ultra2 this Wednesday,
should be in the 70's, so gtg.

Did field maintenance on Saturday, and I'm still sore from that. A lot of raking and some shoveling.
Field needs it though.

We start early May for senior league, not sure yet for the Bethlehem league. Thank God I still got a
few weeks for practice, the rust doesn't come off as quick as it used too. Getting old sucks!

Good of you to help out - many hands make light work -

Our first senior game is on Monday, May 1 --- but my Sunday league (young guys) starts on April 23... Only had one practice with the Sunday team - but those young bucks can really put it out there... Pitched about 400 pitches - that stretches the arm...

Playing first base on my senior team and one of three that help with pitching - we have had 4 practices so far and the team is getting some good workouts... Not just hitting, but infield and outfield practices...

Looking forward to finally getting into the competition...

As to getting old - I try to pay attention to getting exercise regularly - take some swings off my tee over the winter when we have those nice day - and get out early with the tee when spring approaches... It's harder to stay in shape, but more important --- And be sure to stretch before any practice and every game...

Had practice tonight for senior league team. Picked up about 4 new players, all look like they've played
some good ball before. Starting to get excited to see us play our first game. But still waiting for the schedule
to find out when it is. Hit my 2 piece Ultra 2, it is a very nice bat. Did not hit the OG Ultra 2, just concerned
about the durability.

That said I will be hitting it on Friday. Traveling down to visit my Dad in Florida and will be visiting my old
Army buddy near Ft. Gordon, GA on the way down. He has a decade on me, but still plays tournament ball.
Should be a lot of fun, and if I get there early enough I'll be taking BP with his team.

Road trip!!!!

Got my Bethlehem league schedule, we play our first game Tuesday 05/09/2017. Haven't practiced or
even met with our team yet. I know we have a few new players, so hopefully we get together for some BP
and get to know one another. Otherwise it will be an adventure opening day. But the core from last year is
still there, and once we got everyone we finished the season very strong. Very competitive league with 11 teams, and most
teams are ASA tournament teams forced to play in a league to qualify for ASA tournament play. ASA is
so stupid on this, but it is what it is. Be nice if they did things like USSSA.

If you were in the Harrisburg area I could help you out - RetMilVet is up in Allentown area - We did have some active members in the Pittsburgh area, but they've gone missing for the past couple years... Perhaps one of them is still lurking in the background here & can help you take some swings...

My Senior League team has been practicing - good practices - Hopefully will turn into good game results...

This Sunday is the first young league game - Looks like it's going to rain - I hate rainouts on double-headers... :(

It's 50 50 Ken, power of positive thinking and your games will be fine.

Senior league is still a mystery on start dates. But young Bethlehem league is May 9th.
