Best Distance Bat Not Miken Ulta

I play in a league that allows any bat BUT Miken Ultra's. What is my best bet for a bat that will equal or come close to the Ultra II's performance?

For non-senior bats alot of guys use the orange Miken recoil USSSA or the new black FX-700 USSSA. They come wih end loads, too. Take a couple of hundred swings to break in but worth it and then you can use them in non-senior leagues. The senior Combats and Reeboks are hotter but IMHO the Mikes are better. Depends upon your budget. Good luck. -4four4

Other senior bats like Combat and Demarini and Reebok etc.....I had a grey combat that was very close in performance as well as a Geezer. USSSA bats are good, but not senior bat good. Worth has quite a few senior bats around as well. When I am at senior events, Miken Ultra II, Combat and Reebok seem to dominate the scene.

pretty much any other senior bat.

i preferred the mm gear over the u2 and seem to hit farther with one because of it.

the geezer is good, but takes a while to break in, my geezers with 300-400 hits can't keep up with the u2, mm gear, or jak'd nemy

better than u2

I did a one to one with u2 and reebok el (yellow) both well broke in and reebok out did u2. My team mates got same results with my bat.

I play senior ball over 65 leagues.

Senior bats

Yellow ripit if can find one!

I agree that the yellow Rip it is a great bat, if you can find one and if the league you are playing in allows it. The original black and gold Launch hits with any Senior bat out there for distance but doesn't last long. My choice would be the Reebok Melee endloaded (yellow) bat. They are easy to find at a decent price and take very few swings to open up.

The new 2013 Demarini Senior, just released May 15 is a great option. Hitting a pre-production trial bat now.

Better distance than a Geezer or 2012 Demar Senior model AND built for better durability. Durability tests have been really good. Has more endload than previous models. Takes a little break in, which is refreshing. I prefer it over the Combat.

I used both playing ball but my FX-700 Utrip is the one. I have new 2013 DC-41 that I will use for senior ball next year. ( rupture patellar tendon taken off until next year )

The yellow MM Combat hands down, I own 3 og U1's and this is about the only bat I know that hangs bomb for bomb with it and it's more durable than any u1 or U2. Only thing is it has a very small barrel.

The Geezer for me is the best distance one I have swung. It takes me about 100 swings until I can use them in a game, but they keep getting hotter until they break, and I am an expert in breaking them. Lately I have been swinging a J2U in batting practice, and it is starting to come around distance wise, but there is no webbing on the bat yet.

So is it safe to say that the consensus is that there is no consensus?

Or, that it is whichever Senior bat meets your prefence and/or budget?

USSSA Bat will be hotter than ASA Senior bat will be hotter than USSSA if they are all legal bats and not altered. Then it is all about what you like. I think that Demarini makes the hottest bats, but I swing Ultra II for senior (black, balanced), SCN2 for USSSA and SCX3 for ASA. If easton made a senior bat, I would swing that. I simply like easton the best.

Yes, exactly right.
If you can, try a lot of different ones just to see which one feels best for yourself.
You can always buy some used models just to try and then resell once you find your preference.

Cool. So I get to do the whole bat identification process again now that I am senior eligible and have been asked to play senior ball.

Honestly, I am a bit incredulous. I recall the good old minutes when the U and U2 were legal. But it seemed so incredibly fleeting and long ago. I have been swinging white hot OG ASA Catty's, OG Syn+'s, OG CNT+'s and OG MV1 SM's for years as I approached senior eligibility. It is hard to imagine that senior bats will be a step up in performance, but that is exactly what I have been told.

I think I am off to a good start. I have a mint condition asa-stamped U2 left in storage and a NIW Centenarian and a NIW yellow Reebok Melee on the way. I will give those bats a whirl and decide if I need to "check out" others or just stock up on those.

I rue the idiocy and impatience of youth for virtually giving away the 2 EL Cannons that I had for schitz-n-giggles.....

Phil - why you even want to mention the Geezer is beyond me! You're just being a tease as everyone knows the only Geezers left in existence are stored in your top secrete, special ops guarded warehouse!

Reebok Melee can be had for $70, hard to beat.

Huh? for 70 bux, you must not be talking about the senior Melee Legend ..... and an ASA or even utrip Melee will never hang with ANY "senior" bat.

I finally gave up on U2's for lack of durability, and have been swinging a Reebok Melee Legend 28oz endload (yellow) the last 3 Senior tourneys. It swings a little heavier than a 28oz Miken U2 endload (red) and has the same pop (for me, at least).

That doesn't make any sense. You can't use the Ultra II but you can use any other Senior bat. Something wrong with that logic.
