Breaking in Your New Vinci Glove

or any glove i've spent a decent amount of money on. It works great for Pro ball players who get new gloves free all the time as they are needed...

That's what I was thinking. HR would have had unlimited free gloves so he didn't have to worry about ruining his glove or messing the shape up.

Ya dipping it in water scares me, I'm getting my new bmb in a week or so and have about 2 and a half weeks to try and break her in lol, we'll see how that goes.

I've been breaking-in my glove for 9 days now. It's just about game ready. I've had a lot of free time at work. Could this be a time record for a Vinci break-in?

Always a good idea!
OK, here is how I use the shoe shine method to break in my glove. I put the Vinci conditioner on the glove and let it sit for 24 hrs before I did this.

I've been half ass working on mine since the I got mine in the fall, but I like it when the glove is a little floppier, so I don't think I'll be using it any time soon. Need to put some harder work into getting it broken in, though.

I just picked up a BV19 a couple of weeks ago. Thanks Smarkely3! Man this thing is a tank. I used a whole jar of the conditioner on the first application, and it all soaked in within about 12 hours. Did the shoe shine thing everyday, and was not getting anywhere. It was still so stiff that I could not even close the glove. I applied a second coat of conditoner last night, and it felt a little softer. Wrapped it up with a couple of large softballs. Will check on it tonight. I am hoping that I can get it broken in enough to play catch with soon so that I can use it sometime within the next month.

The BV19 is a tank of a glove.

This thing is a tank, and yes a whole jar. Not like it did any good... cause I still can't even close the glove while holding it normally. Went to wipe of any excess the next morning, and there was nothing to wipe off.

Vaseline = Vinci Conditioner IJS :)

Quoted for truth...except for the magical no errors ingredient. BTW, took me from Thursday to Monday to get a JD73 ready to play. Still a little stiff, but fine to be used. Of course I had 2 days off to just beat the snot out of it...

Yeah, really...used it on mine. Just don't go slathering it on there like sunscreen on a hot day at the beach. Follow the Vinci protocol, It'll work just fine. Of course, you can buy the Vinci conditioner. If I can get mine back from a friend I'd send it to you.

If it makes you feel better I put it on my $319.99 Mizuno Pro, but like the other dude said not too much and follow the Vinci guidelines.

A whole jar of vinci glove conditioner in one shot? Id rather use a little at a time and apply several applications?

In the Batter's Box
the shoe shine motion on the heel and the base of the web works well to get it broken in.

I also put a 16 inch ball in the pocket and hit the ball with the mallet to form the pocket. makes the pocket nice and deep.

I broke mine in the old fashioned way. Only took about a year! But it's been great for the last 2:D
