Any Catcher yelling foul ball

We played in a tourney where a cathcer kept on yelleling foul ball on ball near the line. Twice our team stop running to first cause of him. We told the ump but he did not do anything about it. Is this legal?

This can be construed as a form of verbal obstruction and appropriate bases could be awarded. Repeated violations could lead to an ejection for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Not cool. I'd give the catcher one warning and then eject him if he did it again.

I think thats what got us the most upset about. The ump not doing nothing about it.

Out of curiosity... Why invoke a "blanket rule" when there's a perfectly good rule dealing with this situation already in the book?
