Glove Measurements

Ok I want to know the best way to measure a glove. I always see people asking about the sizing of gloves.
Example 12" glove but measures at 12.5".

Why not just mark the glove at 12.5"?

What area should you use to mearsure the glove?

Should it be heal to top of web?

Heal to middle finger?

Heal to pointer?

Just want to know cause I have a GMP11 (12") and I put a 55 Web on it and want to get a measurement on how big the glove is now.

Top of index finger, down through the pocket of the glove through the middle of heel.

This is how I measure my gloves. Sometimes when manufacturers cut leather for gloves they measure very close to what they are listed at. During the manufacturing process the leather can become longer because it is heated and stretched. Also with break in that players do, the leather can stretch further creating a deeper and longer than listed glove. The 55 web should make your gmp 11 play deeper, but not necessarily longer. Here are a few videos that I find pretty interesting. First one is from "How its Made" and the second is Aso from Wilson gloves talking about where they cut on the hide and why. Hope this helps.
