its just for multiplayer, you can still mulitplayer without it, you can get a new code on Xbox live i think its a couple bucks thats why i went low on my price

you cant get the multiplayer online, you need to purchase a new code from microsoft on xbox live.

you can still play multiplayer without it, you just can't level up past level 5 without it
