More foot problems!

This year I have had severe foot problems. Bottom of my feet start hurting midway thru game 2 of a double header and next morning it feels like bottom of my feet are bruised. For several day later, the only comfort is my Crocs flip flops - ooooo, so comfy!
I have tried Adidas, New Balance and most recently Salomon.
After buying the Salomon SC3, I went quite a while with no problems.
Now in last 2 weeks, here we go again. During league double-header, it has gotten to where I can hardly walk, much less run.
* Anyone experience this?
* Suggestions on "over the counter" inner soles?
I did go to an orthopedic earlier in the year, and after a quick exam, he started talking plantar faciitis and trying to sell me $800 "custom" orthotics, yet he did not take a mold of my feet.
Maybe I just need to glue a turf outer sole to the bottom of my Crocs!
For reference; I'm 61 and not nearly as active as I should be, especially after spending every weekend at hospital with my Mom for 2+ months!

2 summers ago I developed foot problems for the 1st time in my life.
Mine hurt from the heal forward through the arch, I self diagnosed it as plantar fasciitis... very painfull. :(
For me, the only comfortable foot wear was my Birkenstock sandals.
It took 2-3 months of doing nothing in the off season for it to stop hurting.

After a suggestion from a team mate, I ordered a pair of Birkenstock inserts.

With the Birkenstock inserts in my Salomon Fastraks, I played all this season with zero issues.
I can still feel it in the arch, but none of the pain.

I have one pair like this...

and I just got a 2nd pair, like these...

I can highly recommended both styles, they are really helping me a lot. :)

glad to see this post - for the first this year I have had major foot problems as well at 51. wore NB 4040 molded cleat and for two days after playing couldn't walk, playing twice a week this was a problem. the balls of my feet felt bruised and swollen, foot DR says at an advanced age I am having circulation problems and my toes are curling up. I tried inserts SOFSOLE but am having trouble fitting into existing shoes, but can get them into sport shoes as a result of buying larger sizes due to shoes running smaller. still playing Fall Ball so will need to see how feet react once season is over, but did switch weeks ago to NB Turfs 4040's, I am limited in shoes i can wear due to wide feet.

Since my feet hurt from ball of my feet to the heel, with pain more pronounced on bottom and side of the heel, I'm thinking my problem is not plantar faciitis. I got the feeling the Dr I saw was more interested in selling me $800 worth of custom inner soles. He did give me 2 cortisone shots that hurt like hell and did not help.
It's really bad when you don't trust your Dr any more than a used car salesman ............................

I had the same issue and the SureSport plantar faciitis Xbrace was the only thing that helped me! BTW my expensive insole from the Doc did not help me

smarkley3 mine is not the heel, but the balls of feet, would that sleeve help? My Ft DR wants to make expensive inserts for me, saying i need pressure under foot to force toes back down.....my toes are curling up

Honestly you need to see a good foot doctor that will make a mold of your feet and make orthodics for you. Anything else is a band aid. Why mess around with something that you use every day for a few bucks? Buy less expensive other products, not good medical care

What bugged me about my foot Dr is he had me walk across some mats several times to "plot" my feet. I asked the tech how he could plot a 3d image of the bottom of my feet that way. I did not get a good answer. Shortly after, google found me an article on a podiatry site that talked about this method being no better than the Dr Scholls "customs" sold at Walmart where you stand on a pad while it plots your feet and that true customs are done with a mold.

My heel hurt and it was plantar faciitis, how did I know? I was running to 3rd and just before I reached the base,it sounded like a shotgun went off. One of the most painful things I have ever felt. Went to the foot doctor the next day and was told that I had torn the tendon. She said it was the best thing I could have done. Wore a boot for 10 days and then resumed playing. Pain feel ever since.

You were lucky the one I knew that tore it was in the boot for 8-10 weeks. I have it it my left foot Doc casted it for the insoles. Wear a boot to bed which has helped the most .Painful foot problem that can take awhile to heal.

I use the Peak brand Sport insoles sold at K-Mart in all my shoes. I have somewhat high arches, and these are the only over-the-counter insoles that work for me. May not help with the problems you guys describe, but I did start using them after experiencing plantar faciitis a few summers ago. Fortunately it was relatively short term, but my feet hurt so bad for several weeks it was difficult to walk. I remember trying to play 2nd base during that time, and I could barely walk across the infield. Obviously I wasn't very effective.

i am not immune to the recommended orthotics but have heard many many stories on how they have not helped and made fitting them into shoes impossible, the cost makes finding another solution prudent, after all it happened this season with a specific pair of shoes, now this link notes age and a lessening of the padding in the foot as a cause yes, perhaps the orthotics are inevitable but as a result of Obamacare my deductible has skyrocketed and of course I am not there yet (October) and this would be an out of pocket expense or I could wait and get to my deductible......but this describes my situation to the "T".........https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/190431.php

Senior baller...don't let the age bothers you!
Yeah I have similar issue with my feet...painful to walk after tourney, etc...as what I did was to get the dr scholl's full insole inserts. As I stood on the thingy at Walmart and it gave me the readout of which insole to get and I got the one that is just above of what was told to get...for example, it says to get 340, I chose 360 and it fits nicely and do feel it is helping me alot...and when I run, it didn't hurt much...it works so far...and knowing that winter break will help to heal the issue even more.

Why not some of the other fat getting thinner with age? That would be nice.
.
I had planter fasciitis for 4 years and wear nike air max ,between the sneakers and placing my foot on ice it’s finally better, but the sneakers were a huge help

Always on my feet at work and dealt with PF a couple of times in the last 4 years (it doesn’t help that I have a minimal arch on my feet too). After seeing the foot specialist the second time who recommended custom molded orthotics (which wasn’t covered because I’m not diabetic?) and with no guarantees on my $1000 out of pocket costs, looked at other options. At night, if I didn’t sleep with my feet off the bed, I would wear splints. I found that SUPER FEET inserts were the best for me and my over pronation gate. ASIC sneakers and durashock boots with the extra support helped. Also the ice bottle excersices every opportunity. Good luck

I had PF a few years ago and the only way I was able to eliminate the pain was to actually strengthen my muscles in the shin area of my legs. There was a huge discrepancy in strength between my calves and the muscles on the front of the leg. I would walk on my heels and then constantly stretch my calves. At night, I would leave my feet uncovered from the blankets and try to keep my toes pointed up and back.

Advil, ice and elevation are my best friends after painful times. Try to get a nice foot bath or bucket to ice your feet. Take care of your feet and they will repay the favor.

I had PF and Achilles issues for the entire summer of 2016. I had insoles custom made ($550 cdn) in Oct 2016. Tore my meniscus in Nov 2016, surgery to repair in March 2017. Played all summer this year 3 days a week with my insoles and have not had any foot pain at all! I wear Speedcross3 shoes. Knee is sore from titme to time but my feet feel great. Best thing i ever did was get the insoles.

Your knee will eventually recover and won't be a problem - unless your meniscus is gone. I had a guy barrel into the side of my knee while I was waiting at 2nd for a delayed throw from my pitcher. Flexed my knee sideways. I had arthroscopic surgery to clean up the torn meniscus 18 months later. My torn meniscus looked exactly like the pics on the poster on the wall at the hospital. It took several years for my knee to return to normal. That knee would almost collapse for quite awhile if I flexed it too far too fast, but I attribute that to the damage done when my knee flexed sideways more than the torn meniscus. I wore an elastic knee support when I played for several years which helped tremendously. My surgery was in '99, and I haven't had any pain or soreness in the knee for years.
