Pitches with a high arc

I've been having a lot of trouble hitting asa pitches lately. I do just fine hitting Utrip pitches. My swing is level, slightly downward and lately, I've been popping up the high arc pitches.
The odd thing is, I like flat pitches and I see people having more issues with those. How can I adjust? I've tried moving around in the box, stepping off the plate a little, and waiting a split second longer. I do think it is more of a timing issue than anything.

a lot of the veterian umpires I've seen in asa are allowing a higher pitch still. Drop back in the box and also remember the strike zone is different between the two leagues. Should allow you to get a lower pitch to hit more often.

^^^This.

Ive been playing ASA for years and as long as the pitcher landed the ball within a foot behind the plate I've seen umpires in a number of leagues let the pitcher get away with 18-20'. Get as far back in the box as the umpire will allow, and square that thing up:)

It's not a permanent fix to the problem of timing.... but ....

1) Try looking at the top of the ball instead of the center .... this will naturally make your swing a little later --- hopefully hitting the center of the ball instead of the bottom... (If you are currently looking at the center of the ball but hitting the bottom, raising your sight target to the top of the ball should raise your contact point to the middle of the ball)

2) Try using a heavier bat (or more endloaded) --- this also naturally makes your swing a little later (at least until you get used to swinging the heavier bat)

Taking live BP with a pitcher who can actually be consistent about throwing you the type of pitches you are having trouble hitting is the best long-term solution...

A lot of people say they think a pitcher is throwing 20 ft. pitches when they're maybe at 14-15. 14-15 ft. is obviously high when you see it, 20 plus is absurd for it not to be called high.

When I play unlimited there are two things I always try to do.

1) Stand at the back of the mat so I know how far back the strike zone goes.

2) Wait until you see a strike, or get an obviously groove pitch. It's a hell of a lot more difficult to throw a strike when they're throwing it that high. Sometimes they'll try to sneak a flat one in on you so they can try to make it rain the next pitch.

Blow up the middle....Best way to make a pitcher bring the ball down is hit a few scud's by him to make him understand that if he is going to go up the ladder, then you will back through the kitchen.

higher pitch=less bat control=more time for pitcher to back up...soooo not sure how well this will work out for ya bra but hey give her the ol college try!!!

^^^Beat me to it. We are mostly 6-10 here but 1 league is 6-12 and most pitchers push that 12ft and go over and the umpires don't call it. Usually all it takes is a seed up the middle and next at bat im getting a flatter pitch that I can pull or go back side with.

seems like some good info here for the most part, I agree with stand more toward the back of the strike zone so u catch the ball lower

Same thing I do with flat very low pitches.... BLOW UP THE MIDDLE.
I tell em " pick it up or get lit up"
High pitches they have time to retreit, so still blow it up.
