R1 on 3B, 2 outs. B4 hits a bounding ball down the 3rd base line which strikes the bag. R1 reacts by jumping up off of the base to avoid being hit but instead gets hit by the ball after it hits the base. What is the proper rule?

assuming it didn't pass a fielder. dead ball. the runner is out. batter gets 1st, all other runners advance if forced.

I guess he calls games with 4 outs per inning. It would be the third out. Switch it up. The next batter behind the BR that hit the ball will be up their next at bat.

He must not have been too far off the base if it bounced off the base and hit him. If it's 2 out, shouldn't he have been running and not be so close to 3rd?

And if it hit the base first, wouldn't that be ok if it hit the runner after? Not the same as hitting a runner first. That's not a statement, just a question...

If he's in foul territory, does it matter where the ball is? I thought foul territory was a 'safe haven" for the runner.
Hopefully the runner wan't a dumbass and jump into fair territory.

And where was the third baseman? In front of bag or behind the bag.

If third baseman is in front of the bag, no matter where the runner is it's nothing but a fair ball. Behind the bag if runner is above fair territory I've got an out, in foul territory .......... a **** show...

Doesn't matter where runner is once it hits bag, only thing that matters on this play is if fielder is in front or behind runner.

USSSA Rule 8 - Baserunning
Sec. 5. BASE RUNNERS ARE OUT under the following circumstances:
C. When a base runner is struck by a fair batted ball on fair ground while off his base and before it touches a fielder or passes a fielder.

In USA, if a runner is hit by a fair untouched batted ball over foul territory and in the umpires judgment no fielder had the opportunity to make an out, that runner is NOT ruled out. 8.8.E
