USSSA Slowpitch bat

My daughter started a coed team. the bats she bought have the USSSA 1.2 mark, but the bat has "fastpitch" on it. The umpire told her they were illegal for slow pitch. I couldn't find any rule that supported the umpire's ruling.

Then he's wrong unless some league specific rule

I don't think it's relevant to the OP, but the Utrip version of the Easton Ghost has a 'fastpitch only' USSSA thumbprint. I don't believe that it's been done before. Sure to cause more confusion with clueless LDs and umps.
