Where are you playing ASA softball at? Guys can advanced two bases on a walk, and the female has the option of batting or advancing to 1st after a guy is walked. NSA you are not allowed to slide feet first, I'm sure it's similar in ASA, etc. Play a position you're comfortable at, if you're not good at scooping, trapping, stretching, or diving at a ball, infield positions like 1st might not be good for you. If you're a little faster, and can field balls pretty good, 2nd base might be your choice. If your fast, can field a ball pretty good, and have a pretty good arm play short stop. Third base is notorious for bad hops, fast line drives, one hoppers, and ground balls. Reflexes are good, not sure if you've played softball in high school but unlike womens softball it isnt wise to move up past the bag, but instead play behind the bag or on the line depending on your comfort level. Most importantly have fun.
