Batting average software

Hits/ABs will give you your batting average. If you get on base because of an error by the defense, it doesn't count as a hit. Walks and sacrifices also don't count as ABs.

You do realize that, with any level of computer aptitude, that kind of sheet can be put together within 20 minutes? It'd be one thing to say you're terrible at spreadsheets and could use a little help, but asking for a template because you're being lazy...

...or a simple search here would probably get what you're looking for too:

Really?...OK

In cell A1 of Excel type "Game", A2 type "ABs", A3 type "Hits", A4 type "AVG".

In cell A2 type "1" for game one. Continue to fill in game 2 below that and so on.

In cell B2 type how many at bats you had in game 1, in B3 type how many hits you had, in B4 type "=B3/B2"

Continue this pattern for the rest of the games.

Are you doing this to "optimize" your lineup? If so OPS(on base % plus slugging percentage) is superior to average.

I think I wrote one one time. I will look for it and post it here if I find it.

29 oz, you say?
I have a very nice one I use, also figures slugging and a couple other things. It's the sheet my dad used to keep stats when I was a kid, and we kept using it for softball. PM me if you want it.
