So I've basically taught the 5 co-eds how to field as well as they will ever. I have to play 4 in the field, and I play them at 3B, C, RCF, and 2B. This works out really well for us, as our last 3 games have held the other team to 8 runs or less, after giving up 21, 14, 18 in the first three.
My problem is our offense. All 3/5 girls on my team are batting .000--- they are INSTANT outs. The other two are hitting decently but can't hit over the outfielders playing in, so they bat like .300. I have told them to just hold the bat to draw walks, but they strike out almost every time this way, and then they have no fun (this is rec after all, so fun has to be had). So this strategy is out, they will be swinging if they feel like it.
We must bat a girl every 2 guys. The 5/6 guys we have are all good hitters, and we are all hitting above .800. The other one is slow as hell and gets thrown out on balls hit to center.
For the first 6 games I have been using this order: M-M-F-M-M-F-M-F-M-F-F
This is just not scoring enough runs as innings end quick or the girls hit into DPs.
Is this just a fact of life that my girls are going to drag my lineup down, or can you guys think of any creative ways to maybe "spread out" the instant outs to keep innings alive?
Thanks!
