So the other night a guy tried to break into my house, in the process i was pushed into a glass door. Long story short, i ended up with 160 stitches in my left forearm some under the skin and some on the skin.

There was minor muscle damage, no damage to the artery, tendons or nerves.

anyone else been through anything similar injury wise? how long were you out? doc did a great job with the stitching and told me 3 weeks, im skeptical.

I had a similar injury from different circumstances. @ 150 stitches inside and out on underside of forearm, and on my throwing arm no less. It happened on Halloween, so had the whole winter to rehab. I didn't play til the following summer, and although I didn't really have my full strength, I did ok. I didn't really do much rehab work though either. It's been about 7 years since, and I haven't had any ill effects other than a nice scar.

So someone broke into your house and he knew you were home? What happened this story sounds interesting glad no one was killed.

The muscle will heal... If tendon or nerve damage would've occrued, you'd have been in for alot of PT. I hope everything is alright and they catch the rat bastard who did that to you... ****ing thieves..

He came to the door i only opened it because i thought it was a friend coming back to retrieve a wallet. The drunk asked to use the phone, i said no but offered him a quarter for the payphone down the street, he asked for more money or booze, again i said no, when i told him to go away or id call the cops he rushed the door, the door hit me and pushed me backwards into another door which did the damage, i slugged him and my gf came yelling from the bedroom, the guy ran off and i jumped in the car to the hospital.

You are fortunate. It is a nasty injury, but could have been so much worse. Take it easy and don't push it and you should be fine. Hope they catch the guy.
Should just have a nice scar.
My forearm near elbow as of today(damn it's ugly enough without the scar).

Wow that is crazy do you live in the ghetto or something? and don't payphones cost .35 cents now or something? They are getting hard to find!

I can't even think of a pay phone around here let alone how much it costs.

I had 180 stitches in my wrist and arm when i was around 14 years old. I was chasing my sister and as i reached to grab her she closed the door on m arm. My arm went thru the glass on the door. I was out of school for a while and couldnt play Basketball that winter.

the correct protocol would have been to post your story here, ask for medical advice, then drive to the hospital.

I think you need to relocate to a nicer part of town.

Depends on how much muscle damage has occured. I'd say keep somewhat active with the arm. Just anything will help, (carrying groceries with that arm. the squeeze forearm builders) as long as you use it somewhat you should keep a lot of strength. If you look at guys who have had the arm or leg in a cast for months and don't use them you'll see a massive difference in size and ability. So stay active and good luck on healthy recovery. On a side note if you had a pitbull you wouldn't have this problem haha j/k mine would have wanted to play fetch with the guy.
