Courtesy Runner - Pitcher & other

2024 USA/ASA Rules - SECTION 9 - ADULT SLOW PITCH
. A. Adult Slow Pitch Courtesy Runner.
.. 2 A player may be a courtesy runner only once an inning for any player other
than the pitcher, any other players can run for the pitcher anytime the pitcher
is on base.
... Effect: If a courtesy runner is used more than once for a player other than the
pitcher they will be called out and removed from the base.

The question is: Can the same player be a courtesy runner for the Pitcher & another player in the same inning?
Or, must the courtesy runner for the pitcher be different from a courtesy runner for any other player, in the same inning?

You have to use a different runner. Only the pitcher is exempted from reusing the courtesy runner.

If the pitcher is exempt from reusing the courtesy runner, can the player that was a courtesy runner for the catcher earlier in the inning, then also be the courtesy runner for the pitcher?

You can use the same runner again for the pitcher in the same inning. The CR that runs for the pitcher may not run for another runner the same inning. Someone who runs for anyone that's not the pitcher may not run for the pitcher in the same inning.

It's good to know the rule so you can strategize best but also so you can make sure the opposing team isn't illegally using courtesy runners but try not to over complicate it.

This happened to me this weekend:

#9 batter is an older guy, so we tossed in a runner for him. I am the pitcher, and was batting #11. When I got on, there had been a force out in between from the #10 hitter. We went to send out the same runner, and were simply told it had to be someone else.
