Did Wilson Ever Produce Unbranded Gloves?

I picked this thing up super cheap and it should be delivered on this Monday. From the pattern and the dri-lex liner it looks like an a2000 L or XL. Just curious if they produced demo models or if this is a well made knock off. Either way I’m excited to get it in. 1FA37D76-1F31-4F79-89A5-9702839788FD.jpeg E0DDEE0F-AF93-412C-BBF2-9E85C8EB5085.jpeg D2867325-9D3A-4E42-BBDE-CFB05E215E21.jpeg

It's far more likely that it's a knock-off. Actually, I hate that word...… Let's just call it an off brand that is using the same pattern as Wilson.

Are there any indications on where it was made? If the quality is good, my bet would be Korea. I've known some really good stuff to come out of there. It might be a salesman's sample from an OEM. What size is it?

if there is no stamping on the INSIDE I would guess a knockoff

Usually, prototypes even have some interior stamping

sidenote....that inside (where the fur is in other mitts) does look like Wilson's.

Who knows

Maybe it was unbranded for a glove free agent pitcher to try or someone under another contract set to expire, I’ve seen other gloves branded with a another patch sewn on top of another brand, just spit ballin here lol

It should be arriving Monday. From the pictures the leather looks decent (not plastic faux leather). If push comes to shove I’ll have a dope unbranded pitching glove. I’ll throw a measuring tape on it when it gets in to see true size. It was a cheap pick up so I’m hopping the gamble pays off. I’ll get more pictures up when it arrives.

Sorry everyone for the late reply. The glove came in and it feels like quality leather, but the sizing feels like it was designed for someone with gorilla hands. The hand stall is huge. If it fit like an A2000 L or XL I would be all over this thing but I don’t have giant hands. I still haven’t put a tape on it but it feels like at least 12.5”. For someone with substantial hands this would be a prime softball glove. Also the other glove pictured is a Wilson conform 11.75” for reference C490029F-A037-4B4E-8C2D-28F80DC57C4E.jpeg A303213B-658D-4E73-ACE0-A3E7ADA945F9.jpeg 516D2FDE-2345-4118-AD15-D1A7A55E9DA7.jpeg 5685EE79-024D-4D31-96D8-EB399C118216.jpeg 5685EE79-024D-4D31-96D8-EB399C118216.jpeg516D2FDE-2345-4118-AD15-D1A7A55E9DA7.jpegA303213B-658D-4E73-ACE0-A3E7ADA945F9.jpegC490029F-A037-4B4E-8C2D-28F80DC57C4E.jpeg

Check under the thumb sleeve for a possible stamp.

Maybe that's why it lacks branding...possibly a test pattern for a large fit or to sample that pattern in a larger size?

I think Matt Antonelli mentioned getting an unbranded glove to use in the majors, but I think that was from Rawlings.

Edit: Confirmed, he's got it on in this video.

Older Wilson’s did not have the thumb sleeve and some pro players have even requested and got them made without It. I know for a fact that manufacturers make unbranded gloves for major league players that are forced to honor other contractual obligations. I used to actually have one given to me personally by a player when it did not break in to his liking. That being said it did have internal stamping on the glove with the typical Japan stamping for a Wilson in the thumb. If it doesn’t have that I would be skeptical and would assume it is a knock off or a possibly a dye test run. They occasionally will make blanks and use them when making new patterns. This is a long used pattern but they could have made a blank for QC reasons when testing a new dye set.
