ASA Does A Fielder Have To Bat?

LoveyPSU

Sorry, wrong trajectory
First time, (in a) long time. Googling isn't giving me what I need, perhaps due to the words I'm using. But...

Our (main) pitcher has a core injury that would get worse if he swung a bat. But he's comfortable pitching. Does he have to be in the lineup if he's fielding? I'm not worried about any local or league rules, as ours doesn't specifically state anything, so does anyone have an official ASA/USA ruling on this? I'm thinking a fielder has to bat, but wanted to be sure as our other pitching options aren't as good as our main guy. Any links would be great, if they're available.

The Great and Powerful Q
He has to bat but he doesn't have to swing. Effectively take an out each time by having him stand there and take pitches.
