Any Dropped Third Strike

I only ump slow pitch, so never had to deal with this.

My buddy is at his kid's game and asked me this.

Dropped third...runner from 3rd scores before getting the batter runner out at 1st. Does the run count?

I see in my book that they become a batter runner when the catcher fails to catch the third strike, which leads me to believe it's not an appeal play. But, I can't find anything specific on this.

No specific rule set as this is baseball. Just curious if there's a general rule.

No, just like in SP or any other softball/baseball rule set, no run can score if the BR is retired prior to reaching 1B safely.

BTW, that is 5.5.B.1 in ASA.

OK. That's the way I was leaning. The ump counted the run in this game.
Thanks!
