Fixing the field

Our league infield was recently redone. However the parks department used a ton of Turface on and now, instead of a soft, smooth infield, we have a potential disaster. From what I understand, they were supposed to till the Turface into the field. I can't tell if they did and then deposited the excess on top, but our surface now looks like it has been topped off with the illegitimate lovechild of shale and gravel.

Anyone ever deal with this crap? Is it supposed to break up eventually? I'm willing to go up and drag it for hours if it will.

I my experience it will improve, but takes quite a while depending on field use. In the mean time expect several cases of road rash for those putting in the effort to slide/dive that will continue even after it is well mixed in. On the positive side infield play is nice, especially when dragged properly.
