hey guys, our team is in the early stages of planning our first fundraiser. want to know what has worked for you guys and what doesnt. should we keep it small or try to make it pretty big. we have a good conncection at a big bar that would allow us to rent out the whole back room. raffles? silent auctions?

Wow, I didn't know other teams did that.

One thing I've been doing for my team is selling old baseball cards on Ebay to raise money for next year. I think another possible idea is to get stuff from everyone that is worth something and have a garage sale. I think stuff like a car wash is probably not worth the time, you'll probably raise a $100 at the most.

It's football time.....do a few 50/50 square boards for bowl games @ $10 per square ....pay out $125 per quarter and your team keeps the other $500.00. Our team is doing a few of these for fundraisers.

My team is holding a fundraiser at a local bar with different raffle items. gift cards from various places around town. Then on top of that we are selling wrist bands for $10 a band and that will get you free beer for 4 hours. Then we are raffling off a over/under shotgun for the guys and a coach purse with matching wallet for the women. Each person on the team is responsable for selling at least 10 wristbands.

Those are gtg! Take 50% off the pot and let your friends pay for you to play softball. Everybody wants to get in a SB square that only pays out 50%. Save some squares for me!

Our team did these squares last year too. We ended up with 2 sheets for the Super Bowl alone. Luckily, one guy that hit 2 squares donated his winnings to us. It helped that his son played on the team too.

It is very easy to do and the squares basically sell themselves!! Easy money for any team.

Our coed team just got done raising $400 selling.............candles. Lol I **** you not. Also one of the guys on our team put up the money to buy a really nice riffle $525 value that we're selling raffle tickets for. If that goes well combined with sponsorship money we'll be set for all next year. But the football board sounds really good too we might have to do that aswell.

Just tell everyone up front it's a 50/50 fundraiser for your team. We did a Super Bowl and combined bowl games square and made $1000.00 total for our travel team a few years back. This year one of our players run's a non-profit program for kids so all proceeds goto this and he's help's sponsor the team thru his Org. We paid $125 per qtr @ $10 per square so nobody complianed and a lot of the winners just rolled it over to the next board.

**Update**We ended up banking $900 on the gun raffle. It probably would have been more had it not been right before Christmas and he set the price at $20 a ticket.

We have a sponsor.... He pays for all of our tournaments and hotels. He's also a worth dealer so we get our equipment at cost. But we help host one pitch tournaments a few Friday nights to help get our uniforms ( $4500 ). We usually get 12-15 teams every Friday @ $150 a team. We get the 4 field complex for $300 and our team umpires. We give away "One Pitch Champs" t-shirts. We get a local company to do the screen printing for nothing so we have less than $375 in a tournament and make between $1500 - $1800 in 5 - 6 hours. Not sure what state your in but we have teams calling us non stop who want to play no matter the weather.

Hey Brian#29 How exactly would you setup a square board, a little more instructions! That's a great idea!

They are pretty simple to do. If you Google them you can find sites that host them for you. That's where I got the info for the one's I have set up already.

That's what we did.....Get a poster board to write out the squares/board and have someone keep track of the scores at the end of the quarters. If you get enuff sold you could even run 2 boards for more $$$$$.
