Glove Recommendation for 7yo

My youngest is starting baseball for the first time this fall. Currently he’s got a cheap Walmart glove that’s basically the size of the ball.
Is there something out there for young kids that actually has a bit of pocket and size to make a play ?

At this age, something cheap that fits his hand and that he can fully close, right now. Don’t worry about name brand or manufacturer, that’s for later.

I agree. I am crazy and got my son a custom 10.5" Gloveworks for his 3rd birthday. It's beautiful and a great size and completely unusable because of his age and hand strength. I'm glad I got it for him because he loves it and wears it around so I think it will help his love of baseball but he also has/needs some cheap "junk" gloves to actually use and catch a ball. For these youngsters it is just as important as anything that their equipment is usable in their hands and they don't get frustrated with it.

Wait, wait, I misspoke. I’d order him this NP5 from Morton’s, I’ll message you my contact information here shortly, that way I’ll happily take it off your hands in a couple of weeks for a big ole discounted price! 😆 Remember, no ink and no oil! 😉

I would take him to the store and see what he could handle and what fits.

I’m not sure how big your son is, but the two most important things are that the glove fits and they can close the glove realtively easy. Personally, the maximum tier I would plan to look at for a kid is a Wilson A950 or Rawlings Encore/Breakout/XLE in a 31 Pattern (it’s a wide and deep shape). There’s a good chance I go lower tier than that as well.

Thanks for all the tips. The biggest issue is that his current mitt seems like a baby toy. The ball barely fits inside.
I think I’m going to give the 10.5” Easton Moxie a try. Seems like a solid choice. Cheap, and good reviews (King of Juco caught a 100mph pitch with it).
