I literally have not played in 25 years and got talked into playing in a coed league with some folks at work. I tried to get more info. Got an approved bat list, but no idea what ball - other than the league supplies them. 6 - 12 foot arc and strike mats.
Sooooo,
The wife thought that she would do me a favor and bought a Worth Amp from WallyWorld. We had some BP last week with a mix of my old 90's era Dudley Thunder red heat and blue heat, some white Dudley SB12L's and other old white Dudley's that went mush when you hit them and a couple newish 44core-375's. I fungoed a few to get a feel and then the first cuts after 25 years off went about 270 with my halfassed creaky old swing and that Amp. Next dozen were pretty good line drives maybe 15' high when they left the infield. Aaaannnd the handle was bent a good 20* right above my top hand. It went back to the store on the way home.
Yep I know the bat was junk, but hey it's the thought right. Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions and reviews of the bats on their list. They have two team bats, but they are short and light, and shorter and lighter.... IIRC the bigger of the two is 32" and maybe 26oz... feels like a whiffle ball bat to me. I tried it and I CANNOT use it I have looked locally and have found some Easton's available in the price range I'm willing to pay: Rebel, Reflex, and Rival (34" , 26 thru 30 oz) The 28 and 30 oz feel decent in my hands. There is also a Ronin that feels pretty good, but it's not on the list. Please give me some advice (and realize how difficult it is for a us grumpy 'ol farts to actually ASK for advise from you youngsters).
League Only allows the use of single wall, non-composite softball bats. Please note the bat list below is not final and is always a work in progress! If you think your bat should be added to our list, please email with the make and model of your bat so we can do some research on the bat you'd like added. Please note not all bats will be added to our list - the DeMarini Steel or Raw Steel are not permitted in our softball leagues. We do not permit the use of any Miken bats as their bats are either composite, multi walled, or both. You must have a "League Approved" Softball Bat sticker on your bat before you may use it in our Softball league. You can get your bat stickered by taking your bat to your game as the umpires will all have stickers for your bats.
