KIEST PARK - DSMA “250” LEAGUE RULES

All regular DSMA rules will apply with the following exceptions or points of emphasis:

1. Any player than runs into or through the temporary fence when there is no possibility of making a play on a ball will be removed from the game for the remainder of the defensive inning in which the violation occurred. NO SUBSTITUTION WILL BE ALLOWED. If the same player commits the same infraction a second time during the same game, he will be ejected from the remainder of the game and NO SUBSTITUTION WILL BE ALLOWED.

2. Home Run Rule - Unlimited home runs over the 250’ fence. Anything over the 300’ fence will be an “out”. Any ball hit in the air over the 250’ fence, including if off a glove, is considered a home run. Home runs are “hit and sit”.

3. Any ball that goes under or through or bounces over the 250’ fence is a ground-rule double. Any fair ball that rolls past the end of the fence in left-field or right-field is also a ground rule double.

4. If a ball is hit FAIR over the 250’ fence then goes over the 300’ fence in fair territory, it is considered an OUT. A ball that is fair at 250’ and goes over the 300’ fence in foul territory is a FOUL ball.

5. 55 minute time limit. “1-pitch” will be played in extra innings.

6. Run rules: 20 after 3, 15 after 4, 10 after 5 innings. “Flip Flop” rule is in effect.

7. Batting line-up (Men’s): May bat Traditional (10 or 11) or may Bat-the-Bench (all players bat). May start with NINE (9) players – penalized by automatic out in 10th batting position.

8. Batting line-up (Coed): May bat Traditional 10 or 12 (5 and 5 or 6 and 6) or may Bat-the-Bench (all players bat). Men and Women must alternate in the batting order. May start with 9, but will have an automatic out in the 9th or 10th batting position.

9. Batters will start with a “1-1” count and NO extra foul.

10. Home team is the 2nd team listed and will occupy the 1st base dugout. If playing back-to-back on the same field and designation for second game changes from Home to Visitor or vice versa, teams do not have to change dugouts.

11. Lineups must be turned in to scorekeeper by scheduled game time with first names and last names. NOTE: Numbers and/or matching shirts are recommended but not required.

12. A 5-minute “penalty time” will be given if a team is not ready at scheduled game time. Resulting penalty is an automatic out charged on the offending team’s first at bat. A forfeit will be called when penalty time expires if the team is not ready to play. NOTE: Does not apply to teams that are having to come from another field for consecutive games.

13. May use any current ASA- or USSSA-sanctioned bat or softball.

These have always been fun leagues. The $350 sounds steep but cut that through 11 guys and only looking at less than $35
