Nice choice.....if you dont agree send that combatant to me
Go figure
G Rat, looks like you have a Pit. If so, how's he/she with the kid? Got a 9 year old pit with my first kid on the way.

Not a pit. He's a brindle boxer with strong hind quarters. Cisco (the boxer) is extremely obedient and mellow around my son.
In my book pits are great dogs. Just bad owners bring out their aggressive behavior.

First off, great choice of bat!
As far as the pit comment, I was under the same impression until my cousin's dog showed me differently. They had a pit for 4 years before their first child. Once the child came around, it was like her mood changed 180º. She was way more aggressive, and would do anything she could to get to the baby. Got so bad, that the dog chewed through the drywall in their bathroom to get out when the baby was crying once. They got rid of the dog later that week. That was the most well behaved dog until the baby. Not sure what made the dog snap, but it made me question whether or not you can train the aggressiveness out of the dog, ya know? Some dogs are very motherly and loving when a baby is born, but this dog just flipped.

awesome bat choice. and yea i have seen more pits try to protect a baby or child then try and hurt it. and maybe the pit thought the baby was in danger since it was crying and such. im still searching for me a rescue pit around atl. awesome dogs just bad people turn them mean
Take it slow, if you can bring something home with the newborns scent. We used her hat, it gets the dog used to her/him before they meet.. I have a chow mix and he is extremely protective. He always makes sure nothing happens to the baby.
The boy definitely picked the right bat for the night. Fun times.
You can if it is a metal only league
You are the fat chick?
Your dog watches Richard Pryor when nobody's home? Your dog might be cooler than mine.
By NO means am I trying to take anything away from your experience, but that is rare. My girlfriend and I volunter at MPR in KCMO, her more so then me, but thats not common. Any dog can be aggressive and who knows what happened. I am sorry to hear that and very happy nothing bad happened to the baby.
Could they maybe have mistaken the aggressiveness for protection and the dog felt it needed to protect the baby??? Or was there a situation when the dog attempted to attack the baby to do harm? I am just curious. Our Pit is a rescue from the Joplin, Mo tornado and hes been fantastic with my daughter.
Well that's what made it weird. My best friend had a pit that was very protective, so this situation was weird. But it was clear that in this situation, the dog was not trying to protect - it was almost a jealousy thing I think.
I've definitely seen more times where the dog is protective v. aggressive. My older brother had a g. shepherd that was VERY protective of his 3 kids. His wife's sister had a rott and that dog was exactly the same. Very protective. Which is why I think the situation w/ my cousin's dog was isolated, but it definitely was eye opening. I'm not saying any of you do, but I think some people just trust their dogs blindly and defend all dogs saying they're great with kids and not to worry. I think there is a lot of training that can be done to help ease the dog into the situation.
