Looking for Recommendations for a First Basemans Mitt for Softball

My 45 year old son is looking for recommendations for a deep pocket 1st baseman's mitt for softball. His days as an outfielder are dwindling. He still hits with power, but his team is adding younger players to play OF. So he is slowing transitioning to 1B or P. Plays SS or 3B on some teams, but he figures 1B or P will his future. Looking a 13-13 1/2 inch glove. Rawlings is favorite brand, but he will look at others. Thank you for any recommendations!

Check out Leatherhead, they have all their gloves on sale. Or take a look at a Paul Goldschmidt DCT.

Is he RHT or LHT?

The reason I ask is that very often, more cost effective recommendations can be made for LHT.

Nokona doesn't currently make a FBM over 12.5". You'd have to find a SBM100 (14") or N80 (13") in decent condition if you want to go with Nokona. They used to do a limited run of the SBM100 from time to time but I don't know if that's still the case.

Rawlings has the PRODCTJB (13") available. You'll find it highly recommended on here.

Vinci has several models available. The JBV04 (13") & the JBV-SB (13.5) are traditional FBM's. They also have regular glove options that are big enough to use at 1st base. They might be a good option if he ever has to move back to the OF: BR46 (14") & BV100 (15")

Glovesmith does the FB2 HC9 (13")

Kelley makes a couple of 13" models: ES 160 & GN 160

If you want to go the custom FBM route, Capire will do up to 13" but the web is fixed. 44Pro will do up to 14" with a couple of different web options.

Dropping down to a 12.75" FBM significantly opens up your number of brands.......

I have a 13" Rawlings Gold Glove Elite that I bought last year. I used it in 4 or 5 games before I moved back to 3rd fulltime. It's a nice pattern - I think the same as the ProPreferred and Primo patterns which I've also had in the past year - but has no padding in the palm. It's the camel with brown laces. The leather seemed thicker on the 2 toned GGE my teammate bought a few years ago.

I'll add another recommendation for the DCT
Got my PRODCTJB in almost 2 weeks ago and can’t wait to play. I’m cleared for Sept ball and after 2 break-in sessions with a cannonball, this is almost game ready for me.

The PRODCTTI on the other hand... that one is mega stiff in comparison. Can’t wait to feel the Rawlings PRODCT in Horween
