ASA Player Substitute While Batting?

Tippe

Coach
Can a player call time in the middle of batting and substitute a player for the batter?

We had a situation at a game where a player went up to bat. He took one pitch and then their manager called time and substituted in another player to take over batting for the player who only took one pitch?

Is this allowed? Or does the player who started batting have to finish?

Thanks.

and to finish

yes and no. You asked three questions (You had four question marks but maybe the second one was unintentional). These are the three answers in order.

Yes a batter can be substituted between pitches. The substitute assumes the count of the batter they are coming in for. There are other regulations regarding how to make the substitution and I am presuming those rules were followed.

And not to get pedantic or anything, but players don't call time.
