Player Throws ball out of play

Had an incident the other night, both teams used a ball that sounds like a sock, both team used it for half an inning. I turned my back after the fielding team made out 3, head to the fence to grab a drink of h2o. I find out that one of the players threw the ball into the girls field.

What should you do? Is there an official rule?

Does the league provide game balls? Was it a new ball at the start of the game?

Tell him to retrieve the ball immediately, or he can keep walking

League does supply balls. and yes, new ball to start the game. This was one that the league commish put in the shoot. It happens sometimes.

If it was a ball that had clearly been used over and over again, I’ll probably warn the pitcher to never do that again. Just ask for a new ball.

If it was a fairly new ball, bye-bye.
