Senior rules?

Senior batter hits a ball that hits the strike board and then hits the batter, who is in fair territory because he immediately began his run to first and was over home plate.

Since the board covers the plate, we don't know if the ball hit the board over the plate or behind the plate. Is this a judgment call by the ump? Thanks!

SSUSA Rule 8.3(F). If batter/runner is struck with his own batted ball in fair territory he is out, dead ball, all other runners return to previous occupied base prior to this batted ball. Ball may start in foul territory and continue into fair territory as well ALL of the strike mat in Senior ball is considered a part of fair territory also. Your post states that runner was quick out of the box after hitting ball, in fair territory when ball struck him, umpire is right to call him out per Rule.

Did the batter-runner still have a foot in the box when the ball contacted him? If so, it’s just a foul ball.

Doesn’t matter where the ball bounced from.
