you can post your ? in the below thread:Anyone break their's in yet? Pics to share?
Mine came double-hinged. lol.I've had mine on my hand pretty much since I got it. Lots and lots of shoe shine and couch catch. I'll snap a few pics and post a link to my album. Looks new still though LOL. It's getting a real nice bowl shape.
If I had to nitpick I'd put less padding on the thumb side. Obviously I could remove some to make it a little more double hinge break friendly but I think I'll just see how it goes as is.
That was the 1st thing I noticed on mine. Real prominent straight heel. I always shoeshine but my heel wants to stay double-hinged. I haven't had another glove do this on me. I'm not complaining because it will roll for me one day, soon.Mine kinda did. Much more so than the TF21 did. But nowhere near what a Rawlings 303 or something similar does.
I still think Wilson needed to make the web wider. Widening the middle cross bar would not have affected the playability for a baseball.
Would be fine to use at 3rd base for baseball if you prefer a little extra length. It would also make a great outfield baseball glove for those who prefer a slightly smaller glove.

The Wilson padding is essentially the same as Rawlings and the same on the pinkie and thumb side. However, Wilson's thumb loop is much more than the old school "loop." It has that thumb "pocket" and the loop is behing it. Internally, there is another layer of leather in there too (if I remember correctly). These extra layers make that thumb side extra beefy. I see the advantage for mitts, but I am not sure I like it as much on the gloves. Too much bulk for me.
Thanks. I have a conspiracy theory about the web thing which I won't get into. But requesting the extra long laces was to compensate for the adjustments for a softball. I needed the extra length to get the web width where I wanted it.I agree with you here. I measured my Pro200-6k (Bryant) and the web is much bigger on that glove then the SP125 and its (pro200) a "hardball" glove. I think adding a half inch or so would of made this thing super amazing. however its my #2 behind my Bryant. Great glove, love it.
U did an excellent review with the one Chad sent u, much appreciated!
I would agree with this as well.

Haha. In a nut shell, it would appear that Wilson considers themselves the only ones around with glove design knowledge and a bunch of dudes on a forum no nothing about gloves or have valid suggestions that they'll admit to.C'mon! Its Conspiracy Thursday - do tell! =) Maybe getting a black web from another company that makes webs in the size you'd want would make this thing even more sweet....and give it some contrast..
Mine's breaking in really quickly. Brought it to work with me a couple days, left it in the car one morning and it's softened up nicely.
Be careful when you bring it with you and leave it in your car. (Should be no more than 40 minutes). You are essentially baking your gloves. and the UV lights can fade your color. I will condition it first (so its moist) wrap it with a softball in the pocket, throw it in a large zip lock and leave it in your car (not directly under the sun) for 40 minutes max. Like last week, it was over 160F in my car if I leave the windows up during the day. Some of my dash plastic turned soft but didn't crack since I armor-all it. Just a friendly precaution.
I just measured the 1781 that I received today (thru a trade) and the top bar measures 4.25" and the middle bar measures just short of 3.75".I seem to remember that using a web 1/2" wider than the 1781 was one of the requests, but it certainly looks no wider than a 1781 web. Can someone measure the width of the top and middle bars? It has been along time since I measured a 1781, but I think the I-web is only 4" across.
It is amazing how a slightly larger web can make such a difference. And if you do a web swap, remember to add 1/4" in length for every 1/2" you add to the width. And you might not want to add much to the width of the top bar.
