Bat testing, screens, and a 44/375 ball is what I've just been told.

SSAA doesn't test bats...screens, whatever, got it...44/375? It's SSAA for goodness sake! One of the reasons people like playing SSAA is to hit the47/525's! No reason not to, already have a screen in place for the pitcher's safety...

Major changes were made this year! It definately doesn't look like SSAA anymore. We never used screens, tested bats, and always hit a 47/525 and had no problems!! The fields in Florence are 320+, that ball in that carolina heat will be a factor.

Yes sir, I agree with the ball and the heat statement. Was stationed at Shaw from 99-05 and played many, many tournaments at Florence and all over the Carolina's...I know that heat/humidity very well!

You would be surprised what that SC heat/humidity can do. My time at Shaw ('02-'05) was fun for a first assignment. Learning softball from Jay Weezy, J. Whit, and CGT one can never go wrong!

Can't make it this weekend due to AFRS 1 Star popping in on Thur-Fri. Have fun, be safe, and bombs away Gentleman!

G, read the post son....according to Big Al the rules have been changed for some reason or another and they're talking about hitting a 44/375. Imagine that!

The hype is real.....44/375 balls, screen, and 320 fields. Absolutely all of that will be a factor. Plus, 3 of the 4 fields have wind that blows in or straight across. Be ready to play defense boys. But for the life of me, can't imagine why any of these changes have been made?????

I'm pretty sure only if a bat is called into question. I don't think it'll be like other tourns where they take the bats as you come in and put them into a trash can. Also, I forgot that the fields are rocks and super fast.

No trash cans but bats will be tested and stamped. Each player is allowed 2 bats. Bats will be tested friday night and Saturday morning before play starts.

Got this straight from Ms. Becky yesterday.

Crazy stuff...we won the SSAA Hall of Fame earlier this year in Peters Creek (civilian, not military). Hit the 47/525 until we locked into A, then changed to 44/375 according to the rules. No bat testing was conducted either.

Here's a crazy question...What bat standard does SSAA test at? I know SSAA doesn't have their own standard and have not tested bats in the past so how and when did this come about? And 4 days prior to the tournament none the less...
