The price of combats vs quality?

Okay, been around for years but only ever swung Miken and the occasional Catty...no true experience with Combats. I've always wanted to try out a combat simply because of them being so cheap (not saying all of them but man the market is loaded with $100 or less sticks) but that is at the same time the reason I stay away from them.

Something that cheap can't be that good can it? I'm curious if there is any honest to God thoughts out there from you guys on this..prefer to hear from guys that have swung more in their life than just combats or just something else.

(And don't bring up combats like the OG AV or such that do hold value...obviously not talking about them)

Most of the bats combat produces are equal to performance as most of the bats produced by other manufacters. My reasoning for why others don't like combat is that they have a bad rep for not being durable and the lack of feedback. Alot of guys just don't like the soft feel that combat is known for.

But how do they get away with the cheap price? Is it due to what you said, just the impression most guys have of the durability and what not that keeps the price down?

Monger pretty.much hit.the nail on.the.head /thread I put.down my.mikens to.swing.combats they're cheaper to replace than most the other manufactures when they.do.break...

There's just not the demand for them that there is for mikens and etc because of what Monger said. Whether it be the soft barrel or SS towards the endcap people just don't like them. And I may catch hell for saying this but I think part of it is due to the fact they don't really take to shaving and rolling at all. And as far as the durability thing goes, I have owned several Combats with 2,000 hits if not more.

The Gear line is awesome...best pop, feel, swing weight and distance I've ever mashed with...better then freak line, better then mayhem, better then synergy and stealth...great cold weather bats, hot weather...break-in period isn't long...and they are CHEAP (as you said yourself on price) period. Short soft barrels, stiff handle, ultra responsive...yea...

the rolling and shaving bit I've heard quite a bit to be honest, gotta hold some truth I'd guess. A combat with 2,000 hits now that I don't hear a lot (guess that proves the whole rep thing they have).

Retail price wise combat is on par with the other.manufactures its the resell value.that gets killed by the Rep of not being durable... but since I started swinging combats last year I think I've had less of them break.compared to my worths and mikens ...

Some of the Gear line is what has caught my eye.

Question for anyone...so do all combats typically have the sweetspot slightly more towards the end of the bat, or just certain lines? The only combat I swung was an OG AV and did so 4 times...the best hit was one I thought I miss hit towards the endcap.

Before combat all I owned was worth and easton. In my area of the country (central VA) I am the only person that I've seen at the fields the truely prefers combat over any other. My opinion stands as this.

ASA - AV has out preformed anything else I've swung but that also factors in my swing and personal preference of feel with the bat.
Yes the RD28, OG eastons, etc are good preforming bats as well but for me I hate the feel of them.
The AV can stand up next to any other ASA bat out there.

1.20 - Many of the bats that fall under this category for combat have dropped in price (>$100). I still prefer to swing these 1.20's over many others. The OG Virus, SBGV, BBGV are all great preforming bats in my opinion.

On the Question of price vs quality. I say COMbat's may not last 3000 swings all the time but it doesnt take 800+ to get them to get nasty. I love the quality of COMbat and with all the people that bash them on here and in my area I love the price. Because I get great bats at a lower price.

Ive owned several AV's and I had a OG Virus, SBGV-RI that last over 2000 swings. My brothers BBGV has an unknown amount of hits on it but is insane

Don't get me wrong when I say that. By no means am I saying every Combat will last 2,000 hits but I've had quite a few with a ton of hits on them.

And like someone else said, think about the break-in period too. All people think about is swing count on a bat. They don't think about how many actual game ready swings they got and how long it took to break in.

So sad. :(
This is how i got hooked a friend of mine let me swing his 28FL a few years ago and i havent looked back since. Hit 4 bombs in 7 AB's with it
Did the same thing on Tuesday. Friend of mine is all about Worths. He saw me on here and said he was interested in buying a bat. Let him swing an AV from a local bro and he just had to have it and hasn't looked back yet.
the Gear Supremacy isn't even sig worthy though?
OGGS is most certainly sig worthy. Hands down one of my favorites.
