Any This Section should be called.....

25 years ago when modified was still big in the area it seemed like the umpires were better qualified(ASA umpires). Now that modified is all but dead the officiating has really gone down hill. Yes, a lot of players don't have a clue about the basic rules and they are the ones doing the umpiring now. Lately it's been a pleasure to go to states or nationals where it seems for the most part the umpiring is still top notch.

agree about some players not knowing anything. how many times have the following been discussed in this forum:

4 base error vs. 4 base award
illegal bat being used
what is the pitching height?
runner giving himself up at 2nd on double play
what color can my glove be?
how many bases on an overthrow?
stepping out of batters box
is the black trim around the plate considered the plate?
can 1st baseman use the safety bag?
is 5-man legal?
why isn't my team as good as the one in the movie "Beer League"?

just trying to have a little fun! I think we ALL make this game out to be more than what it is---a GAME!

You also forgot the one that gets asked almost weekly: The runner on third tagged but the runner on first didn't. Why does the run count on this play? This is a force play. (The timing play posting with me paraphrasing it for INACCURACY) :)
