Purchased an old A2800 and about to embark on creating new stay inserts. First time attempting a 1B mitt. Curious if the long pinky/hand stay is meant to press flush against the leather under the backside of glove or if this glove was altered at some point and there should actually be a layer of felt between the stay and the backside leather. Pic below is what it looks like upon opening with bare stay on top. Basically, is it supposed to be this way? Concerned about bare stay further wearing down leather. Especially considering I’ll be increasing stay thickness to 1/8”. Any insight more than welcome
