So is Eli > Peyton?

no they weren't......jesus....wake up on the dumb side of the bed?

i guess i'm not sure how you're determining one sided. is it that they run/pass 50/50 or they're top 5 in pass and near the bottom in rushing? i was going by the second of the two.

I was thinking he meant one dimensional as offense or defense, not as run/pass percentage.

I was thinking he meant one dimensional as offense or defense, not as run/pass percentage.

what i figured too. however, the colts have had top 10 defense in like 3 or 4 of the last 10 years i imagine. he's not always playing with terrible defenses.

if i were to have to pick which one will be better when all is said and done, it will be peyton. superbowl wins to me is an awful stat to judge ones ability on when you are talking about a sport that heavily relies on the abilities of not just 50 some odd players but coaching personel as well. sure it may be the most important position but its still just a small part of what makes a superbowl team successful.

When picking sb winners I almost always go defense first. Followed by who has the best running game. If both are equal them the qb is my deciding factor.

even if you compare offense/defense, 4 of the last 7 were pretty one dimensional. with most of the defenses being ranked 17th or worse. so it's really not all that rare.

Bottom line - Eli is not the passer that Peyton is. You have to look at it like that to understand who's better. That's his job and he isn't as good at it as his brother, period. And it's not like Eli is gonna take off running like a Vick or Newton so... I'm not sure how this is a hard subject to debate. He's also not as good as Brady, Brees and Rodgers. It's a no brainer to say the Giants are better than the Colts, without either Manning. Eli is more in line with a Rapelisberger or other 2nd tier (still good QB's just not as good) guys. Guys that can deliver but just aren't as consistent and accurate as the elites. Giants fans are reaching for something that isn't there with this thread.

I can believe this is even being debated. Peyton manning is possibly the best qb of all time. Eli isnt in the top 20

if you want the big numbers, peyton is your guy. if you want the guy that can handle the playoff pressure and win. go with eli.

I agree with this statement^^^^. Football is the ultimate team sport. Judging a QB based on Super Bowl Wins is ridiculous. If that was the case then Trent Dilfer is better than Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, Warren Moon, etc. Peyton is/was much better than Eli.

 You are describing Eli's team. The statistic difference is between the 2 is staggering for a reason. Maybe you're talking about a Tebow factor or something

Agreed, but I may be a touch biased ;)
Really, 1st overall draft pick and it looks like your family has sand all up in it...

I bet Peyton was ROTFL during this...

use the playoff stats....not the regular season stats. regular season is called regular season for a reason. Dont care if you're the last placed defenswe in the league during hte regular season if you become the best defense in the playoffs....

Let the speculation begin: Cardinals hired Frank Reich, Peyton Manning's former QB coach, as their QB coach.

Not really a Mormon
Everyone who says that Peyton is better is an idiot. Peyton is not good for anything but fantasy. Same as Romo. They are good for stats but cant win a game when they need to. Look at what Peyton has had compared to Eli as far as receivers. Harrison, Wayne, Clark, Garcon. Imagine if Eli had those to work with and what he could do. Eli has had one receiver and thats Nicks. Manningham and Ballard are not on the level as the guys in Indy.

then peyton is lucky his TEAM played well the year they won the SB. peyton played like **** that year.

I completely agree. That's the common in this discussion. Just because your TEAM wins the Super Bowl, it doesn't magically make you the most talented QB/player ever. It means your TEAM played well enough to beat the others that year. Eli or Rothisberger or whoever can win 15 Super Bowls. It won't make them "better/ more talented" than Peyton. BTW, I'm not a Colts fan so I really don't care either way, but this debate is so obviously retarded I had to chime in.
