STL Thread/ Off Season/ Wanna talk about Playoffs?

JSam, I know this was a week or so ago when you posted, but reading about the Worth Bats on the proboards made me think of this.

In regards to why teams play at SV less often now that it's turf than they did when it was dirt, I wonder if it's a case of players getting their hopes up for a quality upgrade to the fields and then being let down by the poor quality of the turf and installation. It may have built up even more resentment within the softball community. It's still a fun place to play sometimes, but I think of it as a Wolff's, you go there for a fun tournament, not sanctioned NSA events and post season play.

NSA would be better if they spread out the tournaments to other parks in the area and take from some of the Usssa parks (Fenton, Wapelhorst, even BMAC). If parks could cooperate with other organizations than just (NSA, USSSA, BASA, Etc.) then IMO tournaments would have better turnouts. That's just my 2 cents, I could be way off on this.

Its all about the $$$$ so I doubt there will be any cooperation, not to mention the possible difficulties with insurance.

You think the area director will have a NSA tourney other than his own park in St. Louis? I highly doubt this will happen to much casino $$ to be lost if so

Demo said he wants NSA to come to BMAC but as long as mark is in charge it will never happen

Has anyone from the area thought about becoming an NSA director? Idk how they get chosen, but if it's by vote, I figure all he would need is someone to run against him... And boom, we have a new NSA director. But like I said, Idk how any of that works.

Gund is awesome, come on over! He was just inducted into the hall of fame also and recognized on the national level! Wtf!?!? I could do better with my eyes closed. And Chad, that's what our team feels about SV. We went there last year for the opening turf show for the jokers tournament and got there and saw how garbage it was, standing water and mud between the turf and the outfield, first play our SS dives for a ball and slides 10' on the turf and lands in the mud pit, then we see 2 others about end their career just running the bases. And that's why we won't be back. Too risky to get injured. I would rather play at wolffs than SV nowadays, thats sad. Obviously with only that many teams at worth bats along with the rest of lack of interest last year, mark has to realize this. Unless he is just trying to ride it out and collect a little more cash before he folds up the park. I have no clue. I remember 2-3 years ago when worth bats was full, along with a lot of other tournaments like the grand slam series. I guarantee it would still be full if he either would've done the fields the correct way or else not touched them at all!!

That's 4 acres of ball fields, and the parking lot. $1.5M...it'd have to make $150K a year net, to turn that offer down. As a working business I wouldn't take less than net profit over the next 10 years.
