True, most injuries are the result of players colliding, or a caught cleat, or an awkward slide. But those are accidents and can't be prevented.

Limiting batted ball exit speed is 100% controllable. And while you can't prevent people from getting hit with a batted ball, you can minimize the damage. ASA switched to the .52/300 ball for one reason: it doesn't fracture human skulls at typical batted ball velocities while the old .44/375 does. If UTRIP doesn't want to make a wholesale switch to the .52 (and for whatever reason, they seem reluctant to) then they need to change their bat standard. Unfortunately, I don't think raising minimum compression from 220 to 240 will change anything.
