Mental midget huh? I'll guarantee I have a better education than you, but that is besides the point. I honestly could care less if everyone and their mother has posted about this before. If you don't want to read/post about it, then please just move on. There's plenty of other stuff to read about on this site. I have every right to start a new conversation about it, and have no need to read your insignificant posts. All they do is give my thread free bumps. I know there are people on this site with softball knowledge much greater than my own, and I'm looking for those people to share their thoughts with me.

My meager education only allowed me to use the search function and in 45 seconds I found this many threads on the subject.....

Maybe I should've went to school longer and been as educated as you to realize that there was a search function....

I just told you I don't care how many times this has been talked about before. I also don't care to keep fighting with you on here, so just move on to bash someone elses thread please & thanks.

Alright, let's stop the non sense. Just don't reply to a person who doesn't help your search for infomation, because you are too lazy to use the search function. I never use the search function and enjoy seeing a recently commented thread being contributed to.

So I read all about the ASA testing, how it started and how it's conducted, and what I find interesting is they do not test in a fast pitch manner. The testing program was started due to slow pitch leagues.

The bats are tested in a stationary position with a 110MPH cannon fired ball, and Bat in a swinging motion (speed based on an eqaution using the bats MOI) with a 25mph fired ball.

I find it interesting that the bats are not tested with a 70MPH fired ball and a say 70 MPH swinging bat (to mimic fastpitch).

Long story short...the test is for slow pitch softball. All bats must pass this test, which was developed from studies in 2002 Slow Pitch Championship Play.

What this means:
If your FP bat is stamped with ASA 2004, it's been tested based on slow pitch bat and ball speed data.

If your league bans FP bats, you need to let them know who bats are tested, and suggest if they have an issue to implement a negative rule, like baseball has.

If they feel there is a FPB advatage in SP league play, then their only ground on the matter has to be weight of the bat. Since SPB drop -8 and you can buy a FPB at -8, and both bats are tested the same (Based on men SP ASA Championship Play), then implement a rule of say -9 or -8.

Just my thoughts on any leagues banning FPB because they are FPB.

Might wanna go back and re-read it, because this makes no sense. It's also wrong.

The structural differences between the bats and the impact force differences between the two games has already been well-covered, in those threads the OP thinks of as pointless because he wants his answer now and in this thread.

What makes no sense? That is the ASA test.

Is the Phenix truly a fastpitch bat? I mean in a literal sense, it doesn't say fast pitch on it anywhere and the 34/26 is the same length and weight as many other asa sticks.

I'm just curious about those league that ban fastpitch bats, what criteria do they use to determine if a bat is a fastpitch bat? The length? weight? somewhere on the bat that say -8, -9, -10, etc..?

AFAIK, to every association other than ISA it is no more a "fastpitch" bat than it is a "slowpitch" bat; it's a an approved softball bat, plain and simple.

Most just ban bats with the word 'fastpitch' on the barrel. I'm sure some put more focus on the length:weight differential, but the prevailing tendency is to just bar anything with 'fastpitch' or 'FP' on it.

So I'm wondering... do guys actually use fastpitch softball bats in slowpitch softball leagues? I see so many people talking about the Phenix, CF3, CF4, etc. I feel like these would be so light, but maybe these bats just fit their swing better? Or are these bats awesome enough to be considered by all?

:cool::rolleyes:

I found this:
Louisville Slugger TPS Triton: FPXT8 Fastpitch - Composite Bat
on a site 34/26 NIW for $80.

This same bat at sports authority is $219. I made sure they were both FPXT8.

Maybe it's last years model or something, but it's out there, if you're looking for a composite bat under $100 and want to try a FPB.

By the by, I bought this bat.

I used my new "FP" bat this weekend. Has a sweet spot from of about 8" - 10". Pretty obvious too. Just whacking it lightly with an aluminum bat you could see the reflex.

Hit some real nice line drives. I also used a NOW Freak FX700...and gave the guy crap all game cause I hit my FP the same as his Freak and deeper.

Price difference $40 vs. $300
