I always thought all the knob stickers were orange, I just bought a freak 98 off craigslist got it and it has a black and red flat sticker. Anyone ever heard of this?

Someone could have replaced the original sticker with a ultra 2 sticker. You might want check if the rod is still in the handle or if it was fiilled with epoxy. How much did you pay for bat? That might give you an idea of what kind of freak 98 you have.

I dont think that someone who had a painted U2 would only try and sell it for $150... just sayin... Second, some leagues if the knob sticker is not there, its considered altered.... some umps dont know a knob sticker from a knob kuff and as long as they see SOEMTHING they are happy... so I could see the sticker just being swapped out...

without pics its impossible to tell.... but for $150 chances are its just a F98 with a different sticker

I can see that being done, just puttin on a sticker if the f98 didn't have one...and very doubtful they would sell it for 150 if it was a painted ultra

I would say they replaced it after loosing it because I have some that have a bubble sticker around the same serial # , I have definetly lost some stickers and just got other miken stickers in same weight ...

Yep serial numbers that high are bubble but they hit just as good as flat sticker just need to put tons of hits on..1000+ and they become smoking hot.

Correct it's a bubble. Go out and hit with it, you'll know if it's a painted ultra. But, many people have replaced the knob sticker after it fell off. I just tape them up.

i'd have to agree that its a replaced knob sticker some leagues will give you a hard time when the weight sticker is missing. I have had to replace them due to falling off also.
