Knee Injury Help

I hurt my right knee yesterday playing in a tournament. I was batting, went to push off my right leg to swing and it collapsed on me. It was some of the worst pain I have ever felt in my life, and I have a high tolerance for pain, I once set my own broken hand in high school. My knee is about triple its normal size today, more than 24 hours later, and the pain is on the inside part of the knee where the knees would touch. I can't put a lot of weight on it, and I can't extend it all the way straight when sitting. I really didn't hear anything pop, but I was yelling pretty loud from the pain. The swelling was immediate after the injury, and has stayed about the same since.

I have an appointment in the morning with the doctor, but has anybody had this happen before? I am trying to get some idea of what to expect going in tomorrow.

Sounds like mine back in 1995. I'm willing to bet it's an mcl/lcl tear with meniscus damage.

My left knee collapsed on my Saturday, stretching out at first, sound similar to your expericance, but the pain went away and it didnt swell much. It buckled 4 more times just walking around. I have to wait a week to see my specialist. Good luck to you...

Waiting to hear the results of the MRI now. Doctor that looked at it said it seemed like a tear to her, so she sent me to get a MRI and gave me a prescription for loratab.

Scrap the loratabs and just use ibuprofin. I tore my PCL and received 800mg ibu's and they worked great.

Depending on what you did, hopefully it heals up fast. I blasted mine in August and am just now starting to jog pain free.

No complete tears of anything, partial tear of the MCL. Been out of work all week, in a long brace from thigh to ankle. Can't play ball until June they say, so watch for the bat sale that might be coming up.

All I can say knee injurys suck real bad. I tore my acl, mcl, and lcl last April and my first ortho fixed my acl, and lcl but my lcl started to give out when walking. Went for a second opinion and mri with another ortho and was told it wasnt fixed right and i needed a 2nd surgery. So I had my 2nd surgery mid Nov and Im 3 months out and walking with a cane but the knee feels structurally sound so I guess thats good.

I had my knee buckle when I hit a pothole while making a throw.. That happened in October... No insurance for doctor so I talked to a few doctor friends and they said it sounded and looked like a severely strained my MCL.. Told me to stay on crutches and I.C.E for a couple weeks and it would slowly heal. I hit a couple times at the beginning of the month and knee felt good with a brace on, no pain afterwards just stiffness. Playing my first tourney this next weekend but I told the guy I'm playing with that I will need a runner since I still don't feel comfortable running even with the brace..

My advice... Stock up on Ibruprofen and get a really good brace.. Took me 3 months to figure that out till last week and my knee feels great when I have the brace on. Make sure you have the brace on for ANYTHING physical... I'm also now learning why you listen to your doctor when they say you need to wear a brace.

Good luck and hope everything goes well.. I know when I get insurance that's the first thing I am going to the doctor about cause I'm sure I tore some more of my already surgically repaired meniscus..

Well, the knee is healing up. Still on track to start playing again in late May or early June. I miss playing, I teach so hopefully I can get back by the end of school or it will be a long boring summer.
