Need a Bat Recommendation

I used to frequent these boards EVERYDAY back about ten years ago, but I slowly got away from softball and now I know nothing about bats...

A friend asked me to play in his Spring Men's league and the list of approved bats is VERY limited...I'm wondering if the knowledgeable folks here can look over the list and make a recommendation for the best bat on that list? My absence from the softball scene means that I just don't know what is hot and what is crap any more...

Here is the list: [ame="http://www.cuttingedgesports.net/misc/batlist.pdf"]http://www.cuttingedgesports.net/misc/batlist.pdf[/ame]

[I'm limited to the singlewall list on the left, too!]

TIA for the help!

Cold Engineer says whatever Joe Pesci likes in a singlewall metal bat is good enough for Cold Engineer. Can't quite make out the stamp on this one though

I'm guessing that bat would be thrown out as a re"paint" job in some version of red.

For bats you can easily find new in wrapper with receipt:
1) Demarini Ultimate Weapon-under $100 but will dent really easy
2) Easton SP15SVS (Salvo Scandium)-$160-$180, ok with 52/300 softball but will dent easy with anything else (FYI-SP12SVS & SP13L9.0 are basically the same bat if u can find them cheaper)

For older bats:
1) Anderson Flextech or Pyrotech--generally under $100
2) Any of the Easton bats with an "SRX..." model number-under 4100-these are technically listed as multiwall on ASA's website.
3) Louisville TPS or Ritch's Superior

Kind of funny the Anderson Nanotek SPA (singlewall ASA) is listed as hotter than the multiwall Rocketech"s & Techzilla"s. I'd love to be in that league when I turn 52, but what a nightmare for the umpires.

There is a Ritchs Green monster on the bay for cheap right now.

HaHa-we will see how long that "cheap" price lasts. In the last 30 minutes the 34/32 Cu31 Ritch's jumped from $90 to over $150. I'd be surprised if either of the 2 left on the bay sell for less than $125.

Here is a suggestion. Tell the douche bag Les who owns and runs that league to EAD. That turd makes over $400,000 per year from suckers who have to pay by the game $10 to pay in his crappy league. For that "princely" sum you get a scorekeeper and more rules then the US goverment. He is a real d-bag and you should go play in other leagues like Norristown, Southampton, Bensalem or south Jersey that allow you to use real bats and not the POS that lord Les demands. Seriously the league blows and the owner is a real D^&k....

Could you please tell us how you really feel?

That league would blow. I'd rather buy a tee, buy a bat I want and hit by myself than play in that league. Glad the leagues we play in around here utilize the approved lists, usually. Nothing nearly this extreme beyond allowing old stamp usssa bats or asa only bats in NSA leagues with 52/275s.

I play in a league that only allows single walls and sb12s.
I actually enjoy it more than most other leagues.
I use the ultimate weapon and it hits fine.

I played in a POS league like this before. Never knew you could turn a simple softball league into a "For Profit" business. If you HAVE to get one of those bats I'd recommend the Demarini Bruiser. Its fairly cheap and easy to find at major sports retailers and holds up fairly well over time. But I would jump ship ASAP on this league.

I know absolutely nothing about this LD or his apparent douche-bag ways but as far as the bat list goes, it actually levels the playing field somewhat in coed rec league ball where there is a large age differential. There are a few discrepencies like putting a singlewall ASA Nanotek on the "hot" list over much better performing multiwalls, however, for the most part it gives the ladies & guys over 65 a fighting chance to be productive hitters. It would be an absolute nightmare to umpire--I guess the guys over 52 & 65 have to show their ID's when they walk up to the plate with a multiwall or composite bat (too ****ing funny)

Way too complicated but I do see the reasoning behind it, somewhat. I wish we had an all wood softball league in the area--now that separates the men from the boys!

The WildGeneral is back!!!

What kind of balls does the league use? Either way, the Ultimate Weapon and the Redline Sunbelt are probably the 2 best performers but they will dent pretty easy with 44-375 balls. If you are using SB12s or the 52-300, they should be okay.

First game is today, Boonie...I'm going to wait until after today to make a decision on what to buy (and if I'm going to stay in the league because at least one person has a strong opinion on it!). I was thinking the Ultimate Weapon was a decent singlewall, but I couldn't trust my memory--thanks for the confirmation!

Thanks to all for the feedback...it has been very helpful.

I'm in the same boat with our crappy company league - metal, singlewall, one-piece only. I don't recall what balls are used (it's not on the league site either). It gets cool here at night even in the summer, so I think the UW is out. I'm thinking the Easton SP15SVS, but I haven't really seen any good information from anyone on the '17 Flex. Has anyone compared the two? I'm wondering if they changed it at all from the '16.
