Pulling off

If you have a hitter constantly pulling off the ball or dumping the barrel by either pulling the front shoulder out or raising the front shoulder- has anyone ever taught to separate or have the front elbow and shoulder work independently? Thoughts

Without seeing a vid of said swing it'd be hard to really diagnose and treat it. Sounds like this person's hands aren't staying in the zone long enough, and they aren't driving through the ball. I'd almost guarantee the resulting hits are weak, with lots of top spin and side spin.

Not having a strong lead arm and hand will definitely doom a swing.

If you are pulling out, I would try starting with an open stance. Stepping in will help with your top half pulling out.

Get a tee. Practice hitting line drives through the hole on the backside. Nearly impossible to do without keeping your front shoulder in. Once that's second nature, use the tee to hit line drives up the middle to make sure the hands are coming through. Once that's second nature, use the tee to hit line drives to all fields. Now pulling off is no longer an issue and you're a great hitter.
