Are there any advantages to cleaning a bat? I've never cleaned a bat, unless it was really muddy. The only exceptions are bats I'm about to sell or trade.

Probably just bro-science, but people suggest don't clean them as it helps cut the ball if that's what you're trying to do.

i think most people clean them up a bit when they go to sell them. my bats look awful. even when i sell them.

I only ever cleaned up the ones I was selling so I could give them a good inspection for cracks and stuff.

Never noticed a change in performance, I just like to have a clean bat. I wash, touch up and wax any bat I sell

I wouldn't mind if you cleaned a bat you sold me, allows you to properly inspect it, but I don't know I feel about the touch ups and wax.

When my wife asks me why I am in the bathroom so long, I tell her I am just cleaning my bat.

I don't know the science behind it, but always felt that a nice clean bat gave me an advantage. I think it's just a mental thing.
