CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!?!?

I am more about the giving. I don't care what I get.....two years ago I was the very last person to receive their gift and ask anyone, I did not complain once....there were enough people doing that for me.

When did the spirit of Christmas become "I hope I get a bat or a new M2." instead of "I really hope my combatant enjoys his gift." Not everyone can afford a new bat or a new glove or a box of new combat apparel. People give what they can and we should appreciate whatever we receive. Eventually you may get a bat one year or that new glove (if this keeps going, which I hope it does.)

I am just honored that I was able to get in late and participate......and even though my SS got my name late...please take your time, dont feel rushed, I will truly appreciate whatever I receive.

NOW EVERYONE HUG!!!! OR I WILL TAKE THE HOLIDAYS AWAY FROM ALL OF YOU!!!!

What about if someone decides to send a SCN3, Extended or OG B1 that is NIW?
Value would be way above the $50, but something that they had in their home already.

I think the perspective of this depends on the person. This is a good discussion though so we can seek to improve it moving forward.

That is a good point. I kinda consider bats to be a separate thing, though. It's such an expensive item, typically.

I don't believe mihklo's intent was ever what was in it for him. As he said, his wishlist asked for items for his wife and kids. I don't believe anyone is suggesting that the new spirit of Christmas is "I want a new bat or M2."

And I do believe Combatant SS will continue...Gary is a very patient man, LOL. Like you, I hope that it does continue.

Don't want to make this all "religious," but I do believe the Bible has some great life lessons whether you wanna "buy into the Jesus thing" or not.

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

So what she gave was "worth" way more than the wealthy people. Do we all want a NIW 2014 bat, sure? WHy not? That'd be pretty darn stellar. Do we want something off our wishlist? Yes please! But here's the deal: we're all Combatants who love softball. So if the person looks at your wishlist and wants to go rogue and buy something else not on the list, then so be it! As long as it isn't a bag of poo we should all be grateful that we have a community like this where we can spread some holiday cheer

I know I've put in my unwanted 2 cents, but I'd hate to see this awesome thread derailed. There is definite potential in here for this to get ugly, and I know that none of us wants that.

So just a request...can we chill with this discussion/argument and move back to the purpose of the thread? Please forgive if I seem hypocritical or out of place in suggesting/requesting this.

I like the deal. He's a top 5 player in the MLB. It was time for the mariners to make some moves. They have next to nothing on the books and a multi million dollar tv deal coming up. I'm not too worried about it.

I did get a pretty aggressive PM from from him and he had his say - I give what I can - it is stuff that has value and it is combat stuff - it is stuff that I paid for that is unused. If I received my own package I would have been more than fine with it. New batting gloves, new wristbands, new sunglasses, bat number stickers a 650 ball new - come on guys that is not a bad package - regardless of team colors. Anyways he guilted someone else into getting him another gift - hopefully his family enjoys that. I look at these SS as gifts for softball not for family. It is a softball secret santa right? Sorry for all this guys - I really did not think my gift was that unthoughtful - it is softball stuff and I thought that was good enough - guess I was wrong. Just an opportunity to defend myself and my package.

I really do not blame mihklo for all of this... If you look at his OP he just took a pic of what he got...and said nothing negative...then made a small post about the sleeve being broken in...Which i thought was kinda funny...Was not until other people started asking questions and he gave his honest answers...Nothing wrong with an honest answer.. I do not think his original intent was to smear or complain...Just my opinion....
