Runner on third and batter hits a long high one to left. Runner thought it was gone so he goes into third base dugout. Ball gets caught at the fence so the runner quickly runs out of the dugout and back to third. We said runner should be out but umps said they didn't see him they were watching the catch. Is that correct the runner should of been out?

The runner should have been called out for entering the dugout, but if the umpire did not witness this, there is nothing anyone can do. I find it odd that this happened on a fly ball to left field, and the runner entered the third base dug out. Would have been easire to understand if it was a fly ball to right, and the umpire was looking toward the opposite field from where the runner was located. In any case, sorry that one was missed in your game.
