Menards has their 23" by 35" utility mat on sale this week for 97 cents (after a $2 rebate).
Cut this mat to 17" by 34" and you have a perfect mat for placing over home plate to call balls and strikes in batting practice and in practice games.
I bought one of these the last time they were on sale, and they work great. They are made of thin rubber (coated with "hair"), and they have the perfect flex so you can roll them up when not in use and not hurt them.
Not bad for less than a buck!
