What’s the longest break you’ve taken from playing?

Been getting the itch again and thinking about looking for a rec team close by, played my last game in 2017. Will definitely need to get back into game shape, but made me wonder if anyone else has come back after a long hiatus…

18 months. Just coming back to playing on occasion.

It was something that was more related to work schedule. I just became aware that I was unreliable and had to concentrate on being more productive for my employer.

I resumed playing and found myself uninterested in playing outfield or pitching. Living a happy life at 3rd base now.

About 2-2.5 years. Work schedule got crazy and knew I wasn’t reliable. So started bowling again. (And made a lot more money bowling than playing softball). Then Covid messed everything up. Got back into it in 2020. And probably playing more ball now than I ever did before

About 9 years.... but that's because I moved from NY to GA and never really looked for a team to play with. Got back in and took me a little bit to make the transition from modified pitch to slowpitch lol.

11 or 12 years. Stopped playing after a gnarly ankle sprain and really had no desire to even play again until my wife (who wasn’t around when I played) started playing on a coed league with some coworkers. Took her and them a couple seasons to convince me to play and stop judging from the sidelines but I agreed eventually. Quickly learned I needed to warm up now before I played…

I'm going on 7 years now and getting the itch myself, but daughter's travel ball schedule doesn't allow much wiggle room. Hard to even play in our company's annual softball tourney. Good luck and stretch!

7-8 years between when I played with my dad at 18 to picking it up again when I remembered it existed lol

Going on two yrs, due to unattended shoulder injury and slight loss of interest in seniors ball cuz of the way league is run. Going in Tuesday to get shoulder looked at, I'm going to try to get back into it.

This sounds very relatable, I qualify for senior ball next year. Been nursing an elbow injury for nearly 4 years and it’s finally feeling fully healed. Good luck with the shoulder and finding a better league!

About 10 yrs between our church team disbanding and my work starting a team. Then 3 yrs between the work team losing interest and the same work hiring a bunch of young guys that wanted to start a team again. 1st year back after this latest hiatus

I stopped playing about 15 years ago and started playing golf again. After watching a few Spring league games I started getting the itch to get out there. I ended up picking up with a buddy's team towards the end of the season. Then continued with them for Fall ball.

True my ACL 19 years ago and missed fall ball, and was late into spring. Didn't play many tournaments back then.

I got bored when I turned 50 and started playing more golf. It lasted about 6 months and the itch came back and has never left.

I haven't played in nine years and I am playing Monday night again for the first time since then.

Take 5 months off every winter.......But, the actual longest was about 9 months. But, that was because we were in combat in the Persian Gulf and got extended on WestPac. By the time we got back, 8 months had passed and then probably didn't play for a month after.

Had to stop playing in 2007 after my 2nd back surgery.
Started playing again in 2 Church Leagues this year at 58 after my 5th Spine surgery and right shoulder surgery and asked my Brother in Law to play at 45 and he is back in love with the game. I’m on a Senior team and will start playing in August thru Sept, but mainly just hit and get to 1st.
In all, it’s been 17 years, and its been a very slow progression, but I’m loving it and thoroughly enjoy coaching our base runners at 3B😁

In my early 20s, I stopped for about 4 years. When I reconnected with friends and started playing again, it was a whole new world. Composite bats were a thing and the game was totally different. Been playing ever since and that was at least 15 years ago.

I took a 20 year break. Started playing again about 2 months ago, my body still hurts everywhere. LOL

Sadly going through one right now. I haven’t played since middle of last August due to a ton of injuries. More than likely won’t play this year. But still around the game managing 2 teams. And we’re doing great, so if hurts even more that I can’t contribute with my play, though I still feel good about the team and am happy. It still sucks

The hottest line drive left handed bat? The longest ball right handed bat? The one that imparts the most back spin top spin knuckle line ground flyballs?? LMK
