What’s the longest break you’ve taken from playing?

Ive played slo pitch since the mid 90's. Didn't play for 2 years due to Covid when everything was shut down up here. Played in 2023, not this year due to family stuff that got in the way unfortunately. Instead I am out hitting balls 4 times a week all summer weather permitting.

I stopped playing after 2012.... played a lil bit in 2020 / 2021, it took me about a good month of playing and doing bp all the time to really get my swing back. Found out i couldn't really throw the ball very far anymore after not throwing a ball for 8 years. But i started talking to a girl, and she plays softball, so it got me thinking.... i could get back in shape over the winter and play some ball in 2025... Oh and i sold all my bats in spring of 2013 lol.....

6 years. Played a lot from 1999 to 2013. Then took a few years off and played in 2018. Then didn't play again until this year.

Last Four Years 2020-2023. Covid shut most of our leagues down here in DFW.
At one point they were making all players wear masks and provide proof of PCR testing!!!
I didn't want to deal with the CovidCCS so I stopped playing.
Finally back at start of this year.

Same here. Haven't played since 2019. Between family and work, I was down to beer league once a week. Covid shut that league down, and I figured it was time to admit I was never really that good anyway.

Figured I'd be the Cool Old Guy on the team when my boy was old enough to play, but he's a nerd.

Pandemic about two. months. Even after surgery from cancer and while getting chemo therapy for 8 months I was playing with a break about 6 weeks after surgery.

It going on 3 yrs, feels like longer than that. Due to unattended shoulder injury as I started in previous post. It was found I have much more damage than expected, rotator ligaments tendons etc. Dr offered choice of two different surgeries, rotator repair or complete rear shoulder replacement (I believe is what he explained) although cuz of my age and almost a complete rotator tear. He is very sceptical of rotator surgery due to my age and lack of elasticity of my tendons ligaments etc and the fact that I want to try playing again. Anyways, I did some pt and got my shoulder to the point of feeling better, so I'm contemplating trying to play this year being mindful of my shoulder and knowing the extent of my capabilities. I will probably just be added to a subs list for our seniors league, although I will have to be firm with whoever may ask me to sub as to what position I will only play so I don't have to throw very often as I'm on the younger side of seniors players and most if not all the teams will want me to play outfield which I will strongly oppose. So we'll see what happens.

7/8 yrs, tore my meniscus in my right knee. Then moved to a new area, didn’t know anyone that played. Had 2 kids, got married and then moved to a new state after buying a house. Started playing again around 2024, been playing 50/55’s every since
