What is the best method to add a palm pad?

Ah, right! I remember. It wasn't in pieces, but the orange pad had torn in places along the seam where it was attached.

It wasn't torn in multiple places. One tear. Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure that it was a tear as it was too clean. It was more like a cut. In any case the piece of material was too small & insignificant to be effective whole or not.

I may be confusing it with another GS. I have worked on a couple where the orange foam rubber gave out along the seam where it was attached.

An example mitt with Poron XRD as a palm pad. This glove had little use, and, even with that, parts of the pad were already floating around the perimeter. Taken apart last night and de-molded.

Being that this past week has been too cold to do anything outside, this thread gave me an idea to fool around with. I took an older Wilson 1st base glove that I had lying around. I've always liked the glove, but the palm was thin and stung like hell if you caught a hard throw or liner the wrong way. It was past due for a relace anyway. I used some upholstery leather to make a dual layer pad The darker being thinner but stiffer, the other being thicker and more soft. I traced the palm pattern out. Applied some leather glue, then hand-stitched around the edges. I test fit the layered piece into the palm and threw it back together. With a little couch catch I noticed a big difference in the feel. You can feel the pad, but it's not bulky. The real test will be throwing around and seeing what the difference is.

THE BIG SCOOP!!;)

I know it’s just the angle of the photo (maybe not?) but that mitt looks massive in relation to your wrist!

Great work Dan!

Thank you sir. That Mitt is beyond massive. 14" I believe. Certain this thing can catch a coconut and still have plenty of room.
